This position is located in Arlington, VA and is a hybrid position. Responsibilities: This role places the ServiceNow CMDB at the center of the IT operational framework, establishing it as the single, authoritative source of truth for the entire IT environment. This role translates technical infrastructure dependencies into business-aligned services using ServiceNow's Common Service Data Model (CSDM), configures automated Discovery mechanisms, and builds robust governance models to ensure data integrity. This operational, strategic, and highly collaborative role ensures the CMDB evolves continuously alongside the organization's business needs. Core Responsibilities & Performance Expectations: 1. Technical Architecture & Instantiation Own the technical design, schema configuration, and instantiation of the ServiceNow CMDB, ensuring strict alignment with industry best practices and organizational data standards. Define, standardize, and maintain Configuration Item (CI) classes, attributes, and relationship types within the ServiceNow platform. Architect and implement multi-source data ingestion pipelines, leveraging ServiceNow IntegrationHub, Service Graph Connectors, and the Robust Transform Engine (RTE) to unify disparate data streams. 2. CSDM Architecture & ITSM Integration Govern the deployment of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) across all four domains (Foundation, Design, Manage Technical Services, and Sell/Consume) to support true service-aware operations. Integrate CMDB data structures with core ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management) to enable automated risk assessments, accelerated root-cause analysis, and proactive impact modeling. Design and maintain automated service maps using Service Mapping capabilities to illustrate relationships between underlying infrastructure and consumer-facing applications. 3. You will ensure that the HAM module automatically triggers status and relationship updates in the CMDB for physical deployments, location transfers, and secure disposals to maintain audit readiness. Software Asset Management (SAM) Team: Partner to map discovered software installations and cloud resource usage directly to software models, entitlements, and license allocations. You will establish robust discovery patterns and data structures that allow the SAM team to track installations accurately, calculate compliance, and optimize software spend across the enterprise. IT Service Management (ITSM) Process Owners: Collaborate with Incident, Problem, and Change Managers to design workflows that leverage CMDB relationships, optimizing the impact analysis of scheduled changes and reducing Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
