Senior Machine Learning Software Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Data Scientist to design and deliver scalable, data-intensive solutions supporting national security, health, and engineering missions. In this role, you will architect and implement secure software systems, data pipelines, and machine learning models in modern cloud environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex mission needs into robust technical solutions. You will champion best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD while optimizing performance, reliability, and observability. As a senior technical contributor, you will mentor junior staff and help shape the technical roadmap on high-impact, real-world projects within a collaborative, mission-driven culture.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure software and data pipelines for mission-critical systems
• Develop and deploy machine learning and analytics solutions to support customer missions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate mission needs into technical designs
• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and CI/CD in a cloud-centric environment
• Optimize system performance, reliability, and observability for large-scale data workloads
• Mentor junior engineers and data scientists and contribute to technical roadmap decisions
