Job Description

Our client, a leading organization in facility management, is seeking a Chief Engineer to join their team. As a Chief Engineer, you will be part of the Operations Department supporting the maintenance and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Chief Engineer

Location:Detroit, MI

Parking: free parking onsite

Shift : M-F, 7am-3:30pm

Pay :$41/hr

What's the Job?

  • Oversee daily operations and management of the facility maintenance team to ensure safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, goals, and objectives aligned with organizational vision.
  • Identify safety hazards, enforce safety protocols, and ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines.
  • Manage engineering systems including HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting, oversee repairs, preventive maintenance, and monitor system performance for continuous improvement.

What's Needed?

  • 7+ years of facility-related work experience, including leadership and supervisory roles.
  • Minimum 6 years of documented experience in HVAC or electrical trades, or 4 years plus 2 supporting education.
  • Managerial experience leading maintenance teams in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes, construction planning, and execution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS systems, with excellent communication skills.
