This is a systems-level engineering role supporting advanced controller hardware integration across multiple vehicle programs. The Assistant Chief Engineer acts as a key technical interface between Chief Engineering, Product Release Center, and cross-functional teams including software, controls, and validation.
This position is ideal for a mid-level engineer with strong automotive systems experience who enjoys solving complex integration challenges, improving cross-functional coordination, and driving technical program execution. You'll play a critical role in ensuring controller hardware systems perform reliably across engine, transmission, and electrified vehicle platforms.
️ What's the Job? - ResponsibilitiesAct as controller hardware system owner at the application and integration level
Support multiple controller types including ECM, EVCU, and TCM/DTCM (limited scope)
Serve as key interface between DREs, COEs, software/controls teams, suppliers, validation, and program teams
Lead and support system-level issue resolution (CQI, GIMS/S2IRRIUS activities)
Support requirements development, PSK reporting, and program execution tracking
Coordinate electrical and communication integration (CAN, EE architecture) across modules
Review DRE design proposals and support DFMEA and DRBFM activities
Support validation activities (DRBTRs, DVC updates) and track follow-up actions
Contribute to cost and timing inputs for new programs and engineering changes
Support cost reduction and value optimization initiatives
Maintain lessons learned documentation and ensure alignment with technical standards
Track cross-functional action plans and ensure milestone completion
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred (Mechanical or Mechatronics acceptable with relevant experience)
5-10 years of automotive engineering experience
Prior DRE experience (required as background)
Strong experience with control modules / controller hardware systems
Knowledge of electromechanical systems, sensors, and actuators
Experience with CAN communication protocols and EE architecture
Familiarity with DFMEA, validation processes, and automotive development workflows
Exposure to software calibration or controls integration (preferred)
Systems engineering or technical project leadership experience (preferred)
Strong cross-functional communication and coordination skills
Ability to ramp quickly and operate independently
