The Microsoft 365 Knowledge Management & SharePoint Adoption Intern will assist the People & Culture (HR) & IT team in developing, coordinating, and executing high-impact initiatives and strategies. Our ENVISION internship program is 10-weeks of programming where you will receive full-time, On-the-Job training & education (OTJTE) that will prepare you to be real-world professionals. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to learn essentials in data management/administration and organizational effectiveness & design. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Microsoft 365 Knowledge Management & SharePoint Adoption Intern to join the team in our Washington, DC office for Summer of 2026. The internship requires the ability to work up to 40 hours per week, at minimum 32 hours per week during the summer with 5 hours per week devoted to professional development with opportunities for shadowing, mentoring, and training with successful professionals within the space. The internship will commence on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026 and runs until Friday, August 7th, 2026. This position will report to the HR Business Partner in a hybrid environment requiring you to come into the DC office at least 2 days per week, the rest being remote. WHAT YOU WILL GAIN POSITION OVERVIEW The Executive Leadership Council is seeking a proactive, detail & solution-oriented Microsoft 365 Knowledge Management & SharePoint Adoption Project Intern to support key initiatives that streamline operational workflows, improve HR project visibility, and strengthen data-driven decision making. This role offers hands-on experience in project & knowledge management best practices, planning, reporting improvement, cross functional collaboration, and executive-level reporting. As the Microsoft 365 Knowledge Management & SharePoint Adoption Project Intern, your role is to help advance how staff across the organization find, use, and trust information in Microsoft 365. This role supports two core functions: improving published content on ELC's intranet via SharePoint and advancing governance practices for SharePoint and Teams sites. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in content design, digital governance, modern SharePoint experiences, and user adoption strategies by contributing to real organizational needs that impact team members. Key Responsibilities and SkillsSite Administration: Designing, maintaining, and customizing SharePoint sites and document libraries.Automation: Creating workflows, often using Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI.Technical Support: Troubleshooting user issues and providing technical support.Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The ideal candidate should be organized, have excellent written and spoken communication skills, attention to detail, ability to meet tight deadlines, and an affinity for ELC's mission. WHAT YOU WILL DO ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & KEY OUTCOMES Our interns are encouraged to bring fresh ideas to the table and are quickly entrusted with foundational responsibilities such as: Content Modernization & Intranet Project Management and AdministrationReview published intranet content to identify outdated, redundant, or inconsistent pages.Contact content owners (subject matter experts) to request updates, verify accuracy, and coordinate refresh cycles.Update SharePoint pages using modern web parts, layouts, and templates to improve usability.Apply modern accessibility practices to improve clarity of content that aids in the improvement in navigation, readability, accessibility, and visual clarity following content design best practices.Use analytics (e.g., page views, search terms) to understand user behavior and prioritize improvements.Support management of content systems and asset libraries i.e. lists, libraries, permissions, site design (e.g., SharePoint), ensuring version control, scalability, and reusabilityAssist in maximizing current SharePoint sites by providing suggestions on increasing usageUtilize Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate, as needed, to design appropriate UX and workflows to automate administrative processes associated with the course user experience (UX) testing to ensure intranet functionality and quality of user flow. Microsoft 365 Governance & Site Attestation WorkflowHelp design, test, and manage a site owner attestation workflow to ensure SharePoint sites and Teams have designated owners and a clear purpose.Review site inventories to identify inactive, stale, or ownerless sites.Contact site owners for periodic confirmation of ownership and usage; coordinate archival or reassignment as needed.Support rollout communications and training for the new attestation process.Document governance procedures and contribute to ELC's Microsoft 365 "ways of working" guidance. Adoption, Training & Communications SupportCreate user-friendly guidance, how-to articles, intranet pages, and quick tips for Microsoft 365 tools.Develop communication assets (posts, walkthroughs, short videos, or graphics) to support user adoption.Gather user feedback, identify opportunities to simplify processes, and recommend improvements.Support migration or cleanup projects as needed (file rationalization, permissions reviews, metadata organization). WHO YOU ARE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALSMust be a Undergraduate Senior, Graduate student or Recent Graduate enrolled in an accredited College or University with a GPA of 3.00 or above. The student should be pursuing/have pursued a degree in in Data Science, Information Science, Knowledge Management, Organizational Development or a relevant academic field. Graduate Students are preferred.Prior professional or internship experience in information technology systems and workflows, SharePoint infostructure, and/or project management are preferred.Must be willing to commit at least 32 hours per week during business hours for the 10-week program.
