The Regulatory Specialist provides foundational regulatory support to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with beverage and ingredient regulations. This role supports day-to-day regulatory activities, including customer documentation requests, regulatory research, and compliance assessments. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Regulatory Specialist helps ensure products meet U.S. and international regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle, with a strong focus on both existing and new products.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and update regulatory documentation, including technical data sheets (TDS), safety data sheets (SDS), allergen statements, nutritional information, GMO statements, certificates, and other customer-facing documents.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date regulatory data within internal systems and databases.
  • Support the collection, organization, and maintenance of raw material documentation.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to documentation requests from Sales, R&D, Quality, Customer Service, and through customer portals.
  • Assist with basic regulatory reviews of formulations, labels, and raw materials under supervision.
  • Support ingredient qualification activities and associated regulatory data collection.
  • Assist with regulatory assessments related to new product development to help ensure compliance from concept through launch.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and international food, beverage, ingredient, and flavor regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and assist in assessing potential impacts on products, processes, and documentation.
  • Conduct regulatory research to support compliance initiatives and internal decision-making.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Procurement/Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to address routine regulatory inquiries.
  • Support audit preparation activities, including gathering documentation and ensuring regulatory records are complete and accurate.
  • Assist with customer visits and compliance reviews as assigned, providing regulatory documentation and explanations as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Regulatory Affairs, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Quality, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in the food, flavor, ingredients, or related consumer goods industries.
  • Familiarity with FDA, USDA, and ingredient/flavor regulations preferred.
  • Experience preparing regulatory documentation such as TDS, SDS, allergen, nutritional, GMO statements, and certificates is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple documents and requests accurately.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (such as Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a seated position for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel if required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in regulatory affairs within the beverage or ingredient sectors.
  • Knowledge of regulatory submission processes and regulatory affairs best practices.
  • Experience with CRM or product data management systems preferred.
  • Understanding of regulatory topics related to GMO, allergens, and organic claims.
  • Ability to interpret and apply U.S. and international food and ingredient regulations to product documentation and development.
  • Strong research skills to monitor regulatory changes and assess potential impacts on products and processes.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Quality, Procurement/Supply Chain, and Commercial.

Work Environment

This position is based on-site, where the Regulatory Specialist will be the sole regulatory affairs professional at the location, providing specialized support to the broader organization. The role involves working primarily in an office setting, spending extended periods in a seated position while using a computer and standard office software such as Microsoft Office. The Specialist will collaborate frequently with remote colleagues and cross-functional teams and will report to a regulatory leader located at another site. Occasional travel may be required to support audits, customer visits, or cross-site collaboration.

This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $77000.00/yr.
