Job Description Job Description

Job Summary:
The QA Automation Engineer is a member of the Information Services department responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated testing solutions that improve the quality, reliability, and release readiness of digital applications. The primary focus of this contractor role is QA automation across web, mobile, API, and integrated systems, including development of reusable automation frameworks, automated regression suites, test data and mock services, and execution through CI/CD pipelines. The engineer partners with Product, Development, Design, and platform teams to define testable requirements, identify defects, analyze automation results, and provide clear quality reporting. Manual testing is performed when needed to support exploratory testing, new-feature validation, and areas not yet covered by automation.

Job Responsibilities:
-Collaborate with Product, Development, Design, and platform teams to understand functional and non-functional requirements, define automation-ready acceptance criteria, and verify fixes.
-Communicate automation coverage, execution results, quality risks, and release readiness to stakeholders and management.
-Provide QA automation status updates during sprint reviews, release meetings, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
-Provide input during requirement and design reviews to improve testability.
-Support exploratory testing and User Acceptance Testing when needed, while prioritizing repeatable scenarios for automation.
-Perform post-release validation and contribute to continuous improvement of QA practices.
-Identify, document, and track software defects using Azure DevOps, JIRA, or comparable tools.
-Analyze automated test failures to distinguish application defects, environment issues, test-data problems, and script failures.
-Track and report meaningful QA automation measures, including automated coverage, execution pass/fail results, defect trends, flaky-test rates, and regression health.
-Ensure defects are prioritized, resolved, and retested before release.
-Design, implement, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and reusable test components for web, mobile, API, and integrated applications.
-Build and maintain automated smoke, functional, integration, end-to-end, and regression test suites based on user stories, acceptance criteria, business workflows, and risk.
-Use appropriate tools such as Ranorex, Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, Espresso, Postman/Newman, or equivalent technologies.
-Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps or comparable CI/CD pipelines, establish execution schedules and quality gates, and publish actionable test results.
-Develop test-data management processes, mock services, API contract tests, and environment validation to support reliable execution.
-Troubleshoot failed and flaky tests, maintain automation code in source control, conduct peer reviews, and improve automation stability, speed, and maintainability.
-Validate critical workflows across supported browsers, mobile devices, and integrated systems.
-Perform focused manual and exploratory testing when automation is not practical or coverage has not yet been established.

Required Skills & Experience:
-Seven plus (7+) years of experience in software quality assurance, including four plus (4+) years of hands-on test automation engineering for web, mobile, API, or integrated applications.
-Advanced knowledge of QA automation architecture, framework design, reusable test components, and automation maintenance practices.
-Hands-on experience with one or more automation tools such as Ranorex, Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, Espresso, Postman/Newman, or equivalent technologies.
-Experience integrating automated tests with Azure DevOps or comparable CI/CD pipelines, source control, scheduled execution, reporting, and release quality gates.
-Strong knowledge of API testing, UI testing, end-to-end workflow validation, regression testing, test-data management, mock services, and defect lifecycle management.
-Ability to troubleshoot unstable or failed automated tests and identify whether the cause is the application, environment, data, integration, or automation code.
-Working knowledge of a programming or scripting language commonly used for automation, such as C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or an equivalent language.
-Strong communication, documentation, collaboration, and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and provide knowledge transfer to application teams.

Preferred Education:
-Bachelor degree in related field (Healthcare, IT, business, Marketing, English, Communications, or a related field.)
