Job Description

Who we are

SMBHD is a Chicago Salesforce consulting firm built for small and mid-market businesses. We continue to grow! We're about 30 people, with two AppExchange apps and deep work in Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Field Service, Experience Cloud, and integrations. We deliver in pods, and alongside our projects we support many clients long term through our Managed Services pods.

This year we rebuilt delivery around AI. Our team directs AI to produce most of the configuration and code, then spends its time where it matters: understanding the client, designing the right solution, and driving adoption.

The role

You run a Managed Services pod: a team of Salesforce consultants supporting a set of long-term clients, including some of our most strategic accounts. You own how the work flows, how the team grows, and how happy and well served those clients are. The best people in this seat don't just close requests. They know their clients' businesses well enough to bring them the next idea before they ask for it.

You stay hands-on. About half your time is client work in Salesforce, and the rest goes to running the pod.

What you will do

  • Own your pod's request queue: take requests in, set priorities, and keep work moving so nothing sits
  • Learn each client's business and Salesforce org well enough to spot what they should do next
  • Scope, estimate, and present new work, with our architects on bigger designs and our Account Directors on the relationship
  • Take each Salesforce release to your clients: what changes for them and what they should start using
  • Lead your team through 1:1s, coaching, PTO, and growth
  • Watch retainer and hourly budgets, review invoices, and keep the money clean
  • Run your pod to its margin and utilization targets
  • Help us hire as your pod grows

Who you are

  • You'd rather grow an account than close tickets
  • Clients trust you, and you can tell a VP no and still keep the relationship
  • You're organized without being rigid, and you can juggle a lot of requests without dropping one
  • You know Salesforce well enough to do the work yourself and to judge the work of others
  • You use AI every day already and you are looking for a firm that takes that seriously
  • You want to grow with a company, not pass through one

What we need from you

  • 5+ years working in Salesforce, including 2+ years leading a team or a portfolio of client accounts
  • Experience at a Salesforce partner, consultancy, or managed services provider
  • Hands-on Flow and declarative configuration
  • Experience scoping and estimating client work
  • People management experience: 1:1s, coaching, and holding a team to its targets
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, business, or a related field
  • Based in the Chicago area and able to work from our office

Nice to have

  • Salesforce certifications (Admin, Advanced Admin, App Builder, Consultant certs)
  • Agentforce, Einstein, or other Salesforce AI experience
  • Field Service, Service Cloud, or Experience Cloud depth
  • Construction, engineering, manufacturing, or home services clients

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance
  • 401(k) with 6% match, no vesting period
  • Flexible schedule
  • Certification support and paid learning time
  • A team that ships, not just advises

Our core values

  • Get S &% Done
  • Be Smart and Ambitious
  • Be Compassionate Towards Everyone
  • Come to Work Positive and Excited
  • Be Collaborative with Sharp Elbows
  • Own It and Make It Great
