Overtime: Paid at 1.5 times your hourly rate
Schedule: Expected 50-60 hours per week, with potential for additional hours

Employment: Full-time traveling position, contract to hire

Outsource is hiring experienced Data Center Network Specialists at the Technician II and Lead levels for Meta data center projects nationwide. Your first assignment will be in Columbus, Ohio, with future assignments based on project needs across the country.

This opportunity combines technical validation, fiber troubleshooting, network audits, and hands-on infrastructure work. You'll work alongside Meta employees and experienced project teams to help verify that network connections, cabling, and documentation are accurate and ready for use.

This is an experienced-level, nationwide traveling role-not an entry-level position or a local-only assignment. Prior data center networking or data center fiber-optic troubleshooting experience is required.

What you'll do

  • Execute network audits and verify cable connections, port assignments, labels, and installed infrastructure against project documentation.
  • Validate structured cabling infrastructure and identify installation discrepancies, incorrect connections, and incomplete work.
  • Perform cable and connectivity testing, document results, and communicate issues requiring correction.
  • Troubleshoot physical connectivity issues by tracing cable routes, checking patching, inspecting connections, and verifying labels.
  • Support network provisioning readiness by confirming that cabling, connections, testing, and documentation are complete.
  • Inspect, clean, patch, route, dress, and label copper and fiber-optic cabling.
  • Support patch panels, fiber connections, rack organization, cable management, and related infrastructure work.
  • Read and follow port maps, cable schedules, rack elevations, drawings, and site-specific procedures.
  • Maintain accurate audit records, issue logs, progress updates, and closeout documentation.
  • Follow strict site safety, security, and quality standards.

Technician II requirements - $26.50/hr

  • Prior data center networking or data center fiber-optic troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Hands-on experience tracing connections, verifying port assignments, identifying cabling issues, and troubleshooting physical connectivity.
  • Ability to follow technical documentation and complete assigned tasks with limited supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail when checking labels, connections, test results, and records.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly and escalate issues with accurate supporting information.
  • Comfort performing hands-on infrastructure work-not just computer-based tasks.

Lead requirements - $30.50/hr

Lead candidates must meet the technical requirements above and have at least two years of relevant lead experience.

  • Experience leading technicians in data center networking, fiber troubleshooting, or closely related technical infrastructure work.
  • Ability to assign work, communicate priorities, track progress, and maintain productivity.
  • Experience helping technicians resolve troubleshooting issues and installation discrepancies.
  • Ability to review completed work, test results, and documentation for accuracy.
  • Strong communication with project management, customer representatives, and field teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining safety, quality, and professional standards while supporting technician development.

Nationwide travel and transportation requirements

  • First assignment is in Columbus, OH.
  • Nationwide travel availability is required for future assignments.
  • You must be open to assigned project locations-not just Columbus or one preferred region.
  • You must have your own reliable vehicle and be able to drive yourself to the assigned job site.
  • You are compensated for drives to assigned project locations.
  • This is an on-site traveling position, not remote work.
  • Dependable attendance and reliable daily transportation are required.

Pay, overtime, and per diem

  • Technician II: $26.50/hr.
  • Lead Technician: $30.50/hr.
  • Overtime is paid at 1.5 times your hourly rate.
  • Expect 50-60-hour workweeks, with the possibility of additional hours based on project demands.
  • Overtime availability is required.
  • $50/day per diem.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Compensation for driving to assigned project locations.

Build on your technical experience

Put your existing networking and fiber troubleshooting skills to work inside major data center environments. This role offers exposure to large-scale infrastructure, detailed validation processes, technical documentation, and customer-facing project execution.

For Technician IIs, it is an opportunity to strengthen troubleshooting skills and take on greater responsibility. For experienced leads, it is a chance to guide field teams, own daily execution, and build broader technical leadership experience.

This is not a help desk, software development, or network engineering position. The focus is physical network infrastructure, connectivity troubleshooting, testing, and readiness-experience you can continue building on throughout your data center career.

Apply with your resume and highlight your data center networking, fiber-optic troubleshooting, and any relevant lead experience. Please confirm your availability for nationwide travel and your ability to drive your own vehicle to Columbus, OH, for the first assignment.
