Senior Field Network and Systems Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Senior Field Operations Engineer to lead deployment, maintenance, and optimization of mission-critical IT systems for government and commercial clients. In this role, you will plan and execute onsite installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of networks, servers, and end-point systems, ensuring security, reliability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with project and cybersecurity teams, create technical documentation, and provide escalation support, delivering high-quality solutions aligned with Leidos' mission-driven, collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite installation, configuration, and commissioning of IT and network systems
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis for field issues
• Ensure systems meet cybersecurity, reliability, and compliance requirements
• Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and maintenance windows with minimal downtime
• Create and maintain detailed technical and operational documentation
• Serve as escalation point and mentor for junior field engineers
• Coordinate with project management, cybersecurity, and customer teams to deliver solutions
• Monitor system performance and recommend improvements and optimizations
