Urban Sky seeks a Senior Embedded Imaging Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize embedded imaging and control software for our stratospheric Microballoon remote sensing platform. You will architect real-time image capture, compression, and processing pipelines, integrate sensors and payload avionics, and ensure robust performance in constrained, high-altitude environments. Working closely with aerospace, hardware, and data teams, you'll own key features from prototype to flight, improve reliability and image quality, implement test and validation frameworks, and help scale our Earth observation capabilities for environmental and infrastructure monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded imaging and control software for high-altitude Microballoon payloads.
- Develop real-time image capture, compression, and processing pipelines for remote sensing missions.
- Integrate cameras, sensors, and avionics, collaborating closely with hardware and aerospace teams.
- Optimize performance, reliability, and power usage on constrained embedded platforms.
- Implement test, simulation, and validation frameworks for flight-ready software.
- Troubleshoot and debug hardware-software issues during lab, field, and flight tests.
- Contribute to software architecture, coding standards, and documentation in a startup environment.
