We are now expanding our capabilities to include commercial audiovisual systems and are building a strong team to help deploy projects, establish best practices, and grow this new division of our business.

We are seeking a dependable and skilled AV Technician and Low-Voltage Cabling Installer who is excited to play a meaningful role in that growth. This field-based position combines audiovisual installation with structured cabling and offers the opportunity to help shape Safe House's developing AV practice. Experience with access-control systems is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coaxial, fiber-optic, speaker, and other low-voltage cabling
• Install and configure commercial audiovisual equipment, including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, conferencing systems, control equipment, and related hardware
• Mount equipment safely and professionally, including displays, cameras, speakers, racks, and other devices
• Build and maintain equipment racks, patch panels, cable pathways, and cable-management systems
• Read and follow plans, diagrams, scopes of work, and manufacturer specifications
• Perform system testing, troubleshooting, programming support, and final quality-control checks
• Document completed work, cable labeling, equipment placement, and field changes
• Coordinate professionally with project managers, clients, general contractors, and other trades
• Maintain company tools, equipment, materials, and assigned transportation
• Follow all jobsite, OSHA, ladder, lift, and company safety requirements
• Travel throughout the Bay Area and occasionally to projects outside the region

Preferred Experience

• Professional experience with commercial AV installation, structured cabling, or low-voltage systems
• Experience terminating and testing copper cabling
• Familiarity with commercial displays, audio systems, conferencing platforms, equipment racks, and network-connected devices
• Ability to diagnose installation and connectivity issues
• Experience with access-control systems, door hardware, card readers, request-to-exit devices, electrified locks, and related wiring is highly preferred
• Experience with video surveillance, intrusion alarms, networking, or systems such as Verkada, Genetec, Axis, Ubiquiti, or similar platforms is a plus
• Relevant manufacturer certifications, OSHA training, lift certifications, or low-voltage credentials are a plus

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and a clean, insurable driving record
• Reliable transportation during the initial 90-day period
• Ability to pass any required background screening
• Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and active construction sites
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a field team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to clean, professional installations
• Clear communication, sound judgment, and a client-focused attitude
• Availability for occasional travel, schedule adjustments, or after-hours work when required by a project
