Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Recreation Center Manager, the Business Development Manager is responsible for membership sales, marketing and community engagement strategies for The Monarch to drive membership growth and retention. This position develops and implements marketing campaigns, builds community partnerships and analyzes membership data to enhance the member experience and support the facility's operational and membership objectives.
Essential Job Functions and Other Important Duties- Oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of membership recruitment, sales, engagement and retention strategies.
- Develops financial projections and return on investments.
- Develops and implements marketing campaigns and promotional materials utilizing print, digital, social media and other communication channels to promote facility memberships.
- Plans, coordinates and represents The Monarch at membership drives, community events, outreach activities and promotional opportunities to increase public awareness of facility services to drive membership sales.
- Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations, businesses, schools and other stakeholders to expand outreach efforts, develop sponsorship opportunities and promote facility memberships.
- Collaborates with recreation, customer service and facility staff to identify key offerings used to drive membership promotion and sales.
- Collaborates with customer service staff in promoting memberships, maintaining high customer service and utilizing customer feedback to enhance the member experience.
- Monitors and analyzes membership trends, sales performance, customer feedback, market conditions and key performance indicators to evaluate membership sales.
- Evaluates industry trends, customer interests and market data to recommend innovative marketing strategies, membership promotions and customer service initiatives.
- Prepares reports, presentations and performance summaries related to membership growth, marketing campaign effectiveness, sponsorship activities, outreach efforts and other operational metrics.
- Supports strategic planning initiatives by recommending improvements that enhance membership growth, community engagement, customer satisfaction and over facility utilization.
- Remains accessible via personal cell phone to address job-related issues or emergencies using City applications.
- Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required.
Job QualificationsFormal Education: A Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, related field, or equivalent experience.
Relatable Work Experience: A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in recreation, facility operations, or community center management is required. A minimum of two years of experience in a membership driven environment.
Training, Licenses, and Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid certification must be obtained within six months of hire. A valid Class C Texas driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification as a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP). Experience working in municipal recreation or multi-use recreation facilities.

- Skill in building and maintaining effective relationships with community partners, businesses and stakeholders.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement marketing campaigns, outreach initiatives and special events.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
Environmental Factors and Other Physical Requirements (Work Environment):- Work is performed in a recreation center environment, including program rooms, gymnasiums, outdoor spaces, and event areas
- Exposure to noise, crowds, and active program environments
- Ability to move up to 30 pounds, and assist participants as needed
- Frequent movement throughout the facility to support programs and staff
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and special events.
