As an AFSIM Analyst in the Data Science & AI Department at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), you will design, implement, and analyze advanced AFSIM simulations to evaluate defense and aerospace systems and concepts. Responsibilities
- Develop, run, and analyze AFSIM-based simulations to assess defense and aerospace concepts and systems
- Apply data science and AI methods to design, execute, and evaluate complex modeling and simulation experiments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate sponsor problems into quantitative simulation studies
- Validate, document, and present modeling assumptions, methods, and results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Develop tools, scripts, and workflows to automate simulation, data processing, and visualization
- Support research reports, briefings, and publications that inform national security decisions
- Stay current on advances in modeling, simulation, AI, and defense mission domains to enhance analyses
