Job Description

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an AFSIM Developer to design, implement, and analyze advanced modeling and simulation capabilities supporting national security missions. You will build and extend AFSIM-based models of complex systems-of-systems, integrate new algorithms and data sources, and perform scenario development and analysis. Collaborating with multidisciplinary experts, you'll translate mission needs into simulation architectures, validate and document results, and contribute to innovative research while growing your skills in a mission-driven, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AFSIM-based models and simulations for complex defense systems-of-systems
  • Extend and integrate AFSIM plugins, algorithms, and data sources to meet mission needs
  • Develop, test, and debug C++/Python software in a structured, version-controlled environment
  • Translate sponsor and mission requirements into simulation architectures and scenarios
  • Perform simulation runs, analyze results, and prepare technical documentation and briefings
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and analysts on research efforts
