Job Description

Business Development Manager - State Farm Agent Team Member

Craig Vickers - State Farm Agent Keene, NH Full-Time Salary: $55,000-$75,000 per year, depending on experience

The Opportunity The Craig Vickers State Farm Agency in Keene is looking for an organized, outgoing, creative, and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Business Development Manager. This is a unique position that combines business development, marketing, customer experience, and direct support of the agency owner. This is not a traditional insurance sales position, nor is it simply an administrative position. Your job is to help us create opportunities. That may mean developing a campaign to reconnect with existing customers, creating content for social media, welcoming a new customer to the agency, calling customers to schedule insurance reviews, coordinating an event, following up on referrals, helping organize the agency owner's schedule, or simply making sure a customer calling our office receives an exceptional experience. We're looking for someone who enjoys people, is extremely organized, communicates well, and gets satisfaction from turning ideas into action.

Business Development & Customer Engagement

A major focus of this position will be proactively creating opportunities for our team to have meaningful conversations with customers and prospective customers. You will:

  • Develop and execute customer outreach campaigns
  • Contact existing customers to schedule insurance and financial reviews
  • Conduct outbound calling and follow-up activities
  • Help identify customers who may benefit from additional conversations with our licensed team
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments for the agency owner and team
  • Follow up on leads, referrals, and prospective customers
  • Help develop referral opportunities with existing customers and community relationships
  • Track outreach efforts, appointments, campaigns, and results
  • Look for creative ways to keep our agency connected with the people we serve

The objective isn't simply to make calls. We want someone who can think about who we should be talking to, why we should be talking to them, and how we can create a reason for that conversation.

New Customer Concierge & Onboarding

We want new customers to immediately feel that choosing a local agency provides a different experience. You will help own that experience. Responsibilities may include:

  • Personally welcoming new customers to the agency
  • Helping customers understand how to contact and work with our office
  • Making sure customer information and onboarding activities are completed
  • Introducing customers to available services and resources
  • Coordinating follow-up conversations with appropriate team members
  • Checking in with customers after joining the agency
  • Identifying opportunities for additional conversations based on customer needs
  • Making sure important follow-up items don't fall through the cracks
Marketing & Social Media

You will help keep our agency visible and connected within the community. Responsibilities may include:

  • Creating and coordinating social media content
  • Maintaining a consistent social media presence for the agency
  • Developing customer outreach campaigns
  • Helping coordinate digital, email, direct-mail, and community marketing efforts
  • Promoting agency events and community involvement
  • Coordinating customer appreciation initiatives
  • Helping manage online review and referral initiatives
  • Working with the agency owner and outside marketing partners
  • Tracking campaign activity and results
  • Bringing new marketing and business-development ideas to the table

We're not looking for someone who simply waits to be given something to post. We want someone who enjoys asking, "What could we do next?"

Customer Service & Office Support

Business development starts with taking great care of the people who already do business with us. You will also:

  • Answer incoming telephone calls
  • Assist customers with routine questions and requests
  • Direct customers to the appropriate team member when needed
  • Help manage incoming emails, messages, and follow-up items
  • Provide additional front-office support during busy periods
  • Help maintain an organized, welcoming and professional office

Every interaction is an opportunity to provide an excellent customer experience.

Agency Owner & Administrative Support

You will work closely with the agency owner to help turn priorities and ideas into completed projects. Responsibilities may include:

  • Managing and coordinating appointments and calendar items
  • Maintaining follow-up lists and reminders
  • Helping prioritize projects and outstanding items
  • Preparing information for meetings and appointments
  • Coordinating correspondence and communications
  • Organizing agency initiatives and projects
  • Working with vendors and outside partners
  • Assisting with recruiting and onboarding activities
  • Tracking deadlines and ensuring projects continue moving forward
  • Taking ownership of special projects

Sometimes the assignment may simply be: "Here's what I'm trying to accomplish. Figure out the best way for us to get it done."

The right person for this position will enjoy that.

Who We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you are:

  • Exceptionally organized
  • Outgoing and comfortable starting conversations
  • Confident communicating by phone, email, text, and in person
  • Comfortable making outbound calls
  • Creative and interested in marketing and social media
  • Able to manage several projects at the same time
  • Detail-oriented without needing constant supervision
  • Comfortable working toward measurable goals
  • Resourceful when you don't immediately know the answer
  • Comfortable learning new technology
  • Professional and discreet with confidential information
  • Positive and energetic
  • Someone who follows through

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is proactive. If you see something that needs attention, address it. If you have an idea that could improve the customer experience, bring it forward. If you're given a project, take ownership of it. We don't expect you to know everything on day one. We do expect you to be willing to learn, ask questions, solve problems, and continually look for ways to make the agency better.
