IT Director, Data & AI Architecture

Abbott Laboratories seeks an IT Director, Data & AI Architecture to shape enterprise data and AI strategy for its biotechnology and pharmaceutical portfolio. This role leads design of secure, scalable cloud and data platforms, enabling advanced analytics and AI/ML for global healthcare products and operations. You will define reference architectures, data governance, and integration patterns, partnering closely with R&D, diagnostics, and business leaders. The director mentors technical teams, evaluates emerging technologies, and drives innovation that improves patient outcomes and operational excellence in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise Data & AI architecture strategy supporting Abbott's biotechnology and pharmaceutical solutions
• Design scalable cloud, data, and analytics platforms enabling advanced insights and AI/ML capabilities
• Establish data governance, security, and compliance standards across global systems
• Partner with R&D, IT, and business stakeholders to align data architecture with product and clinical goals
• Evaluate and select technologies, tools, and platforms for data integration, storage, and AI workloads
• Guide solution architects and engineers, setting reference architectures and technical roadmaps
• Ensure reliability, performance, and interoperability of data ecosystems across regions
• Drive innovation in data engineering, MLOps, and real-time analytics to improve patient and business outcomes
