Cargill is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead design and development of high performance C++ systems supporting advanced manufacturing operations. You will architect scalable, reliable software for industrial automation, data acquisition, and real time control, integrating with plant equipment and MES/ERP platforms. Partner with cross functional engineers to translate requirements into robust solutions, perform code reviews, and mentor developers. You will champion best practices in C++, CI/CD, testing, and security, while driving innovation that supports Cargill's mission in sustainable, safe, and efficient food production worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement high-performance C++ applications for manufacturing systems
- Integrate software with industrial equipment, sensors, and MES/ERP platforms
- Lead code reviews and enforce coding standards, testing, and security best practices
- Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and product teams to define requirements
- Mentor and guide software engineers, providing technical leadership
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability in real-time environments
- Own CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices for plant and cloud systems
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement durable fixes
