GovCIO LLC seeks a Junior Cyber Security Engineer to support federal customers in securing modern IT environments. You will monitor security events, assist with incident response, and support vulnerability management across cloud and on-prem systems. Working in a collaborative, mission-driven team, you'll help operate SIEM and other security tools, document procedures, and align with NIST and federal security standards. This role offers mentorship, training, and exposure to large-scale government digital modernization projects in a fast-paced, hybrid work setting.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security events, alerts, and logs across enterprise systems and networks
- Assist in vulnerability scanning, patch verification, and remediation tracking
- Support incident response activities, including triage, containment, and documentation
- Help maintain security tools such as SIEM, endpoint protection, and IDS/IPSContribute to security hardening of systems, applications, and cloud environments
- Document runbooks, procedures, and security configurations for federal systems
- Support audits and compliance activities aligned to federal cybersecurity standards
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to implement security best practices
- Assist in user security awareness activities and basic security reviews
- Participate in continuous improvement of security monitoring and response processes
