Charter Dura-Bar, a leader in continuous cast iron bar products, is seeking a Digital Process Automation Engineer to join our Automation & Controls team. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize digital automation solutions that improve safety, quality, and efficiency in a modern manufacturing environment. You will work cross-functionally to integrate PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES, and plant-floor data systems, driving Industry 4.0 initiatives and continuous improvement. Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support digital process automation solutions in a continuous cast iron manufacturing environment.
- Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for Automation & Controls projects.
- Integrate shop-floor equipment with MES, ERP, and data collection systems to improve visibility and performance.
- Analyze process data to identify improvement opportunities in safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and IT teams to define requirements and deliver robust automation solutions.
- Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for control systems and digital automation.
- Lead and support continuous improvement and Industry 4.0 initiatives across the facility.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and cybersecurity standards in all automation solutions.
