Job Description

Pay Range: $96,000 - $120,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications

MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation's largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related infrastructure are continually up and running, and that system-wide backups and monitoring are accurate and complete.

This position can be based in Tacoma, WA or North Venice, FL - Please note that there is a travel requirement listed below under Qualifications

Responsibilities

Life cycle maintenance of systemsPerform data backups and disaster recovery operationsProvide restores from backups when requestedProactively check backup health and completenessProactively monitor and respond to system wide healthAnalyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systemsRecommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changesRespond to system outagesInstall and configure new hardware and softwareResponsibility for documenting the configuration of the systemTroubleshoot problems, both hardware and software, with systemsApply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changesPerform routine audits of systems and softwareResponsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advance notice

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Computer/IT related field is desired7+ years' experience as a Server System Administrator in Windows, Unix, and/or Linux5+ years' networking experience, including firewalls, switches, and routersExperience in a role supporting multiple locations is desiredExperience with DNS, DHCP, Active DirectoryExperience managing MS Internet Information Server (IIS)Experience with MS SQL, Oracle or MySQL is desiredExperience with NetApp Storage is preferredExperience with VMware and Nutanix virtualization platforms, including deployment, administration, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure preferredStrong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidenceExcellent problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentationStrong interpersonal skillsWilling to travel 10% - 25%
