We're partnering with a growing healthcare organization undergoing a major technology transformation. The CTO is seeking a hands-on technical leader to help stabilize infrastructure, lead key initiatives, and reduce day-to-day operational dependency.
This is a high-impact role where you'll act as a player-coach-owning architecture decisions while rolling up your sleeves to execute alongside a developing team.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the right hand to the CTO on infrastructure and security initiatives
- Take ownership of network, systems, and Microsoft ecosystem architecture
- Lead and support a small team of engineers (mentor, guide, and elevate performance)
- Drive execution across multiple active projects in partnership with external vendors
- Step into complex technical issues and resolve them without heavy direction
- Help implement structure, documentation, and best practices where they don't exist today
- Ensure projects stay on track and reduce escalation dependency on leadership
Key Areas of Focus
Infrastructure & Networking (Top Priority)
- Firewalls, site connectivity, and network troubleshooting
- Hands-on support for upgrades, configurations, and deployments
- Ability to operate independently without step-by-step documentation
Microsoft Environment
- Azure (cloud infrastructure and services)
- Exchange
- Intune (endpoint management)
- SCCM / Endpoint Configuration Manager
Security (Practical / Infrastructure-Aligned)
- Apply security best practices across infrastructure and cloud
- Partner with vendors on broader security initiatives
- Support identity and access strategy (nice to have)
Additional Exposure (Nice to Have)
- Cisco environments (networking / collaboration / voice systems)
- Healthcare IT experience

First 30 Days
- Embedded into ongoing projects
- Builds trust with CTO and team

- Projects progressing smoothly with minimal bottlenecks
- Team operating more independently
- CTO no longer the primary escalation point for technical issues

- Experience across Microsoft enterprise environments
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles in practice
- Proven ability to operate as a hands-on technical leader
- Comfortable working in fast-moving, evolving environments
- Ability to teach, mentor, and elevate less experienced engineers
- Self-starter who takes initiative and solves problems without waiting for direction
