Source One is a consulting services company and we're currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant to an autonomous ride-hailing company in Foster City, CA.
Title: Network Security Engineer - Contract
Pay: $86.75/hr (W-2) + benefits
Duration: 1 year (likely extension)
Summary: Our client is seeking a Network Security Engineer to support and enhance its network security infrastructure. In this role, you will help protect systems, communications, and data by implementing, maintaining, and improving security solutions across enterprise and cloud environments.
You will contribute to the architecture, design, and deployment of network security systems while partnering with cross-functional teams across Information Security, IT, Product, and Operations. This position requires a hands-on engineer with strong technical expertise, collaboration skills, and experience supporting production environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support network security solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, URL filtering, and network access control
- Manage AWS network security configurations (VPCs, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateway, AWS Network Firewall)
- Support secure remote access solutions, including VPNs
- Implement and maintain network access control (e.g., 802.1X)
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize security systems for performance and reliability
- Contribute to evolving network security architecture, standards, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure infrastructure and deployments
Required:
- 6+ years of experience in network security engineering within production environments
- 6+ years of IT systems or application engineering/administration experience
- Hands-on experience with AWS network security services and architectures
- Experience with next-generation firewalls/UTM devices, VPNs, and network access control (802.1X)
- Strong understanding of the OSI model and Layer 7 security concepts
- Knowledge of PKI, cryptography, and certificate management
