Job Title: CAD Technician I (CAD Tech I)
Location: Minneapolis, MN (Onsite 5 days/week; potential remote on Fridays)
Duration: 12 Months (Contract-to-Hire Potential)

Job Overview & Description:
We are seeking a CAD Technician I to support a growing engineering team within the gas utilities sector. This role focuses on preparing detailed CAD drawings for piping and infrastructure projects, including gas meter installations, apartment complexes, commercial facilities, and roadway-related work.
The ideal candidate will assist in developing precise, localized designs using AutoCAD and Autodesk tools while collaborating closely with a small, dynamic team. This position is well-suited for junior candidates (0 2 years of experience) with a foundational understanding of architectural or engineering drafting.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using CAD software (AutoCAD/Autodesk).
Prepare drawings for gas piping systems, meter sets, and infrastructure projects (above-ground utilities, roads, highways).
Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and calculations to produce accurate technical drawings.
Coordinate with engineers and team members to design, layout, and refine system components.
Analyze technical aspects of designs, including weights, volumes, and stress factors.
Draft scale plans for structures, foundations, and utility systems based on project requirements.
Compile and organize data required for design completion, including field measurements when necessary.
Ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project standards and specifications.
Assist in determining materials, costs, and quantities for project execution.
Support cross-functional coordination for structural, electrical, and mechanical design integration.

Required Qualifications & Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Associate Degree in Architectural Design or related field (preferred)
0 2 years of experience in CAD drafting or related field
No specific certifications required, but CAD-related certifications are a plus

Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk tools
Basic understanding of CAD drafting principles and design techniques
Knowledge of engineering concepts and construction drawings
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
