NOW HIRING: Lead Specialty Systems Technician Armorstack CITADEL Division - Physical Security Systems Southeast Wisconsin (Milwaukee metro & surrounding areas) Full-Time Start ASAP
$75,000 - $90,000 base + Company Vehicle + Paid Certifications + Full Benefits
Tired of being called a "lead" but still just pulling cable with no real say in the job?
At Armorstack's CITADEL division, you get to own it end-to-end. You'll assess the bid, help design the system, program the enterprise platforms, lead a small crew in the field, commission the job, and hand over a polished, integrated security solution that actually works. No micromanagement. Real authority. And the chance to work on meaningful commercial projects where cyber and physical security converge.
This is a true hybrid role: technical expert + crew leader. If you love designing and programming complex systems and getting your hands dirty while mentoring a team, this is the upgrade you've been waiting for.
What You'll Actually Do You'll manage integrated low voltage security systems from start to finish on commercial and enterprise projects across Southeast Wisconsin.
Design, Program & Own the System
- Review bid documents, assist with system design, create diagrams, specs, and network topologies.
- Program and configure enterprise platforms including Software House, Lenel, Milestone, Genetec, Notifier, Edwards (logic, access matrices, alarm protocols, UI customization).
- Design and implement integrations between access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, fire alarm, and structured cabling using scripting, APIs, and protocol translation.
- Test, tune, and optimize systems-reduce false alarms, improve performance, and ensure maximum reliability and uptime.
Lead the Crew & Run the Job Site
- Direct and mentor a crew of 3-5 technicians: assign daily tasks, manage priorities, and keep projects on schedule and on budget.
- Enforce safety, quality, and code compliance on every install.
- Act as the on-site point of contact for general contractors, project managers, and clients.
- Provide real-time updates on progress, material needs, and potential issues.
Install, Commission & Deliver Excellence
- Run, terminate, and test fiber/copper cabling to TIA/EIA and BICSI standards.
- Install and configure cameras, access panels, sensors, and related devices.
- Perform full system commissioning: point-to-point testing, failover, integration validation, and client walkthroughs.
- Maintain as-built documentation, test reports, and operation manuals.
Why This Role Is Different
- Full ownership - You design it and lead the build. See your work from blueprint to go-live.
- Enterprise impact - Multi-system, multi-site commercial projects (not residential three-camera jobs).
- Real leadership - Mentor techs, set standards, and make decisions on the job site.
- Cutting-edge work - Be part of Armorstack's MIP approach where physical security (CITADEL) integrates with cybersecurity and IT for true resilience.
- Growth & support - Clear path to senior tech, project management, or leadership roles as we scale. Company vehicle, laptop/phone, tools allowance, and 100% paid certifications (NICET, BICSI, manufacturer-specific, OSHA, etc.).
- Stability + variety - Steady commercial work with a growing company headquartered in Waukesha.
What You Bring Required
- 5+ years of hands-on commercial/industrial low voltage experience in design, programming, installation, and commissioning of access control, video surveillance, intrusion, fire alarm, and cabling systems.
- Strong proficiency programming at least two enterprise platforms (Software House, Lenel, Milestone, Genetec, Notifier, Edwards).
- Proven experience leading small crews or mentoring technicians on job sites.
- Solid knowledge of structured cabling (TIA/EIA-568, BICSI), networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE), and system integration.
- Experience with testing tools (Fluke, etc.) and working knowledge of NEC Article 725, NFPA 72, IBC, and related codes.
- OSHA 10 or 30 (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, and handle occasional non-standard hours during commissioning.
Preferred (We'll Invest in You)
- NICET Level I/II, BICSI Installer 2 or Technician, manufacturer certifications.
- Lift certifications (scissor/boom).
- Experience with project management tools.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field.
What We Offer
- Base Pay: $75,000 - $90,000 (depending on experience; potential for higher with strong programming/leadership background).
- Company Vehicle - Provided for work use.
- Benefits - Health, dental, vision + 401(k).
- Certifications - 100% company-paid (NICET, BICSI, OSHA, manufacturer training, conferences).
- Tools & Tech - Company laptop, phone; bring your own tools (we respect the craft).
- Perks - Overtime opportunities on larger projects, lodging/per diem for any Midwest travel, professional development support.
Work Environment Primarily field-based at client sites in Southeast Wisconsin (Milwaukee metro and surrounding areas), with occasional travel throughout the Midwest. Expect work in mechanical rooms, above ceilings, and outdoors. Must be comfortable with physical demands and safety protocols.
