EFJohnson provides wireless communications products and systems for public safety, commercial, and government customers. We design, manufacture, and market conventional and trunked radio systems, land mobile radio repeaters, and mobile and portable radios, including Project 25 digital radio products.

As a Design Engineer 1, you'll develop and maintain software for the EFJohnson's Subscriber and Encryption Products group. This position will follow the Product Life Cycle process, adhering to schedules, designs, and deliverables. The Design Engineer will actively communicate and coordinate with other engineering teams and team members, providing constructive inputs and timely feedback. This role is out of our Lincoln, NE location.

Join a highly successful software development team in Lincoln, Nebraska. We are responsible for application and embedded software development for the EFJohnson radio product line. We are a software engineering team of 50 members and offer a relaxed work environment where you will be surrounded by amazing talent.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain windows/web applications for EFJohnson's radio products.
• Develop requirements and protocol documents for new and existing products.
• Learn and implement P25 Trunking, Smartnet/Smartzone, and DMR communication protocols in accordance to standards.
• Provide technical support on subscriber products to solve design and field issues.
• Identify and correct defects in existing products.
• Establish and maintains good inter/intra departmental communications.
• Respond to special assignments/projects as directed by management, with an attitude and willingness conducive to getting the job done.
• Exhibit desirable and appropriate professional behavior including leadership, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, ability to get along with others, creative thinking and personal integrity to provide for a cohesive, productive business unit dedicated to the achievement of corporate goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of web development experience preferred.
• Experience with C# and C++ is preferred.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player.
• Must be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of development tools, test equipment, and documentation procedures.
• Knowledge of land mobile radio or other communications standards a plus.
