Acting as the go-to escalation point for tough technical issues (Level 3/4 support)
Troubleshooting complex systems problems across infrastructure (servers, networks, etc.)
Leading incident response and recovery efforts
Performing root cause analysis when things break
Planning and leading system implementations or upgrades
Designing or contributing to enterprise architecture
Working with vendors and possibly managing support strategies
Advising developers and business teams on technical solutions
Creating documentation and presentations for IT leadership
Skills / experience they expect
5+ years in IT support or operations
Hands-on experience in areas like:
Servers / operating systems
Networking
Storage / infrastructure
Middleware or enterprise systems
Disaster recovery
Ability to lead technical efforts, not just execute tasks
Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking
Certifications are a plus (not required, but valued)
