Position Overview

Raven Defense Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Buyer / Purchasing Specialist to support procurement operations. This role is responsible for sourcing and purchasing machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services necessary for business operations, as well as raw and semi-finished materials for manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of supply chain processes, and the ability to make strategic purchasing decisions that support cost efficiency and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders, solicit bids, and review requisitions
• Source and procure high-quality materials at competitive pricing
• Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and service
• Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and suppliers
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure contract compliance
• Track shipments and resolve delivery or quality issues
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, inventory data, and supplier information
• Collaborate with internal teams to determine purchasing needs
• Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures
• Monitor inventory levels and forecast supply needs
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Moderate-term on-the-job training or related experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of procurement, supply chain, and production processes
• Knowledge of business operations, resource allocation, and vendor management
• Familiarity with transportation and logistics methods
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Experience with ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
