Data Automation Lead
Location: Onsite Pittsburgh, PA (Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.)

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000

Overview

We are seeking a Data & AI Enablement Lead to help guide our organization through a critical technology and growth inflection point. This role sits at the intersection of data infrastructure, AI enablement, and operational execution.

The ideal candidate is neither purely IT nor purely strategic. Instead, this person acts as an internal builder, integrator, and translator-owning the practical work of transforming fragmented systems into a scalable, cloud first, AI enabled operating model.

This role is foundational and intentionally designed to evolve as the organization matures its data, AI, and automation capabilities.

Our organization is simultaneously:

  • Modernizing its technology stack
  • Preparing for future growth and potential acquisitions
  • Moving from early AI experimentation toward intentional, governed AI adoption

Today, data lives across disconnected systems with inconsistent structure, making automation and AI adoption difficult to scale safely. Leadership has identified the need for a dedicated internal owner who can connect strategy to execution, ensuring that data architecture, systems modernization, AI usage, and process design move forward in a coordinated and practical way.

Key Responsibilities Data Infrastructure & Architecture
  • Lead the design and build out of a centralized data foundation (e.g., SQL database, data lake, Microsoft Fabric, or similar)
  • Coordinate data normalization, tagging, and consistency across core systems such as reporting platforms, CRM, and document management tools
  • Align data architecture with system migrations and cloud first initiatives
  • Ensure data structures are API friendly and designed for future automation and AI use cases
AI Enablement & Governance
  • Serve as the internal owner for AI enablement and adoption
  • Support and standardize the use of enterprise AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar platforms)
  • Develop and promote best practices for prompts, workflows, and AI assisted processes
  • Establish governance, guardrails, and monitoring to ensure AI is used responsibly and consistently
  • Partner with HR, compliance, and leadership to support AI policy implementation
Process Translation & Automation
  • Partner with functional teams (research, operations, finance, accounting, administration, etc.) to understand existing workflows
  • Translate human driven processes into scalable, AI assisted or automated workflows where appropriate
  • Support process documentation and continuous improvement efforts
  • Help determine where automation adds value and where human oversight must remain
Systems Integration & Modernization
  • Support ongoing and planned migrations related to reporting, CRM, document management, and cloud collaboration tools
  • Help establish consistent data and process standards as systems are modernized
  • Ensure integrations are designed with future growth and scale in mind
Consultant & Vendor Partnership
  • Work alongside external consultants, IT providers, and technology vendors
  • Ensure internal ownership, context, and continuity beyond project based engagements
  • Coordinate execution once strategy is defined and ensure knowledge transfer into the organization
Role Characteristics
  • Internal, cross functional role (not client facing)
  • High interaction with senior leadership and department heads
  • Significant focus on enablement, training, and adoption across 20-25 users as capabilities scale
  • Hands on role that values execution over theory
  • Evolving scope with opportunity for expanded responsibility over time
Qualifications & Experience What Matters Most
  • Strong hands on experience building or integrating data systems and workflows
  • Comfort working in environments with ambiguity, change, and evolving priorities
  • Ability to translate business problems into technical and operational solutions
  • Experience partnering with non technical stakeholders
Helpful (But Not Required)
  • Experience with SQL databases, data lakes, cloud platforms (especially Microsoft/Azure ecosystems)
  • Exposure to AI tools, prompt engineering, or AI assisted workflows
  • Experience in financial services, advisory firms, professional services, or regulated environments
  • Prior experience working alongside external consultants or managed service providers
