Position Summary The client is seeking a senior-level storage and disaster recovery consultant to support the configuration and stabilization of an HPE XP8 SAN environment attached to the mainframe. The current Business Continuity Manager (BCM) configuration was improperly implemented, which has delayed critical DR testing. The consultant will assess the existing setup, complete the configuration, and support disaster recovery readiness. This is anticipated to be a 3-month engagement. Project Environment Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) XP8 SAN (direct-attached to mainframe) HPE Business Continuity Manager (BCM) software Mainframe storage replication environment Key Responsibilities Assess current strategy for mainframe SAN-based data backup, replication, and recovery. Assess current HPE XP8 SAN and BCM configuration Identify potential optimizations to current strategy. Assess current and potential optimized strategies against available technical resources. Identify required configuration modifications Reinstall and/or properly configure BCM if required Configure and validate: Continuous Access Journaling Primary-to-backup data replication Reverse replication (failback capability) Snapshot capabilities (if applicable) Support and guide Disaster Recovery (DR) testing activities Document and clearly translate the technical configuration for client's stakeholders Define a sustainable operational model and future-state roadmap Required Experience Hands-on experience with HPE XP8 SAN or equivalent enterprise storage platforms Mainframe SAN-based, VTS-driven data replication and journaling technologies and implementations. Hands-on experience with HPE Business Continuity Manager (BCM) or equivalent technologies. Mainframe-attached storage configuration including site-to-site journaling replication and snapshotting. Hands-on disaster recovery testing and failover/failback. z/OS storage configuration experience Exposure to Hitachi VSP Desired experience / knowledge Mainframe Data Transaction Flow and impact on DR/technical backup and recovery CICS DB2 Non-relational / legacy mainframe file types SAN Replication Internals Synchronous vs Asynchronous replication Journal-based recovery Write splitting and caching Cache flush behavior Consistency groups Engagement Details Estimated duration: 3 months One week onsite (onsite requirement pending confirmation) Potential additional on-site work as required.
