Sr Database Engineer

Cox Automotive is seeking a Sr Database Engineer to design, build, and optimize large-scale database solutions powering our telecommunications and media platforms. You will architect robust data models, develop and tune complex SQL, and ensure high availability, security, and performance across cloud and on-prem environments. Partner with software, data, and DevOps teams to implement automation, CI/CD, and observability for database changes. You'll troubleshoot production issues, lead migrations, and mentor engineers while championing best practices in data governance and reliability in a collaborative, people-first culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable relational and cloud database solutions
• Develop, optimize, and review complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures
• Implement performance tuning, indexing, and capacity planning
• Ensure database security, backup, recovery, and high availability
• Collaborate with application, data, and Dev
• Ops teams on end-to-end solutions
• Automate database deployments and changes via CI/CD pipelines
• Monitor and troubleshoot production database issues and incidents
• Lead database migrations and upgrades across environments
• Enforce data governance, standards, and documentation
• Mentor engineers on database best practices and patterns
