Charter Dura-Bar seeks a Digital Process Automation Engineer to drive smart manufacturing in our Automation & Controls team. You will design, program, and integrate PLC/SCADA, MES, and data systems to optimize continuous cast iron bar production. Responsibilities include automating processes, improving OEE, supporting commissioning and troubleshooting, and implementing Industry 4.0/IIoT solutions. You'll collaborate closely with operations and maintenance to deliver safe, reliable, and data-driven manufacturing, while contributing to continuous improvement and long-term innovation in a stable, family-owned company.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and implement digital process automation solutions for manufacturing operations
- Integrate PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES, and plant floor systems to improve throughput and quality
- Analyze production data to optimize processes, reduce downtime, and enhance OEECollaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering on automation projects and upgrades
- Develop standards, documentation, and change control for automation systems
- Ensure safety, cybersecurity, and reliability of automation and control architectures
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and support for controls and automation issues
- Lead or support continuous improvement and Industry 4.0/IIo
- T initiatives
- Work with vendors and integrators to specify, commission, and validate new equipment
- Train plant personnel on new systems, tools, and automation best practices
