Charter Dura-Bar seeks a Digital Process Automation Engineer to lead design, implementation, and optimization of digital manufacturing solutions within our Engineering & Design team. You will map processes, integrate PLCs, HMIs, MES, and data systems, and drive Industry 4.0 initiatives to improve safety, quality, and throughput in continuous cast iron bar production. Partnering with operations, quality, and IT, you will deliver data-driven automation projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and support continuous improvement in a collaborative, safety-focused, family-owned culture with strong career growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize digital process automation solutions in a manufacturing environment
- Integrate PLCs, HMIs, MES, and data collection systems to improve safety, quality, and throughput
- Analyze current workflows, map processes, and identify automation and digitization opportunities
- Develop, test, and deploy control logic, dashboards, and reports to support operations and engineering
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver reliable automation projects
- Support troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement of automated systems
- Ensure compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and company engineering standards
