Charter Dura-Bar seeks a Digital Process Automation Engineer to drive smart manufacturing within our Automation & Controls team. In this role, you will design, program, and support PLC, HMI, SCADA, and data integration solutions that optimize continuous cast iron bar manufacturing. You'll connect plant-floor systems with MES/ERP, enhance process visibility, and support Industry 4.0 initiatives. Working cross-functionally, you'll improve safety, quality, and throughput while contributing to a collaborative culture focused on integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement, with strong opportunities for long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support digital process automation solutions for manufacturing operations
- Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems within the Automation & Controls department
- Integrate shop-floor systems with MES/ERP and data collection tools to improve visibility and traceability
- Analyze production processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement control and automation changes
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient equipment performance
- Lead and support continuous improvement and Industry 4.0 initiatives aligned with Charter Dura-Bar's safety and quality standards
- Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for automation systems
- Provide technical support, training, and knowledge sharing to plant personnel and cross-functional teams
