Airport Operations Intern - Airfield & Safety Compliance Location: Dallas, TX 75235 Onsite COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE • $22/hour • Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM; rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends) may be required for initial training and assignments • Internship W2 • Start Date: June 2026 ROLE IMPACT This internship provides hands-on experience in Airport Operations and FAA Part 139 Safety Management System (SMS) compliance at a commercial service airport. The intern supports airfield inspections, regulatory compliance, incident documentation, and emergency coordination to ensure operational readiness and public safety. Success in this role means maintaining accurate records, supporting regulatory compliance, and contributing to a safe and efficient airport environment. Key Responsibilities • Respond to customer and community inquiries, including operational questions and noise complaints • Conduct airfield and facility inspections to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and operational standards • Document communications and incidents; maintain accurate records and reports • Submit and track work orders for airport maintenance; verify tenants and issue keys and security items • Respond to alerts and emergency situations using communications software to coordinate with appropriate agencies Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aviation Safety, or related discipline; or senior (final semester) student in an accredited aviation program • General knowledge of airport operations principles, FAR Part 139, and TSR 1542 • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to demonstrate functional English language skills per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5210-20 Core Tools & Systems • Airport communications and dispatch systems • FAA Part 139 Safety Management System (SMS) tools • Work order and maintenance tracking systems • Microsoft Excel • Microsoft Word • Microsoft PowerPoint PREFERRED SKILLS • Ability to pass airfield operations movement and non-movement area written and practical examinations • Strong documentation, time management, and problem-resolution skills • Interest in pursuing a career in Airport Management Legal Notice Selected candidates must pass a TSA background check and pre-employment drug screening and must be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as required by the training program.
