CornerStone Staffing is partnering with a respected healthcare organization to hire a Medical Billing & Coding Specialist. Medical Billing & Coding Specialist Location: On-site (DFW Area) Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Pay: $22-$25/hour Type: Temporary (Potential for Permanent Hire) Position Overview This role is a focused, hands-on billing and coding position responsible for reviewing provider visits and ensuring accurate coding for billing purposes. The organization is transitioning to a more frequent billing cycle, so candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities Review daily and weekly charts for nurse practitioner and physician visits Apply accurate CPT and HCPCS coding Ensure compliance with billing guidelines Support transition from bi-monthly to weekly billing cycles Communicate with third-party billing vendors to resolve discrepancies Maintain accurate documentation within the EMR system Requirements 2-5 years of recent, hands-on medical billing and coding experience Strong working knowledge of: CPT codes HCPCS codes Experience working in an EMR system Practical, on-the-job experience required (certifications alone are not sufficient) Preferred Background Experience in palliative or hospice care billing Experience with Medicare Part B billing Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) EMR system Ability to work independently in a heads-down environment Strong attention to detail and accuracy Effective communication skills with both internal teams and external vendors Flexible and team-oriented mindset About the Role Position is open due to the departure of the previous coder Focus is on experience due to the complexity of the billing system and processes Opportunity for long-term placement based on performance By applying for this job, you agree to receive calls, AI-generated calls, text messages, or emails from CornerStone and its affiliates, and contracted partners.
