Job Description:

HITT Contracting, a Washington Post Top Workplace, seeks a summer intern to join our Research and Development team from May to August in the Falls Church, Va. headquarters office. This role will support robotics deployments on active jobsites, develop new integrated systems, and collaborate with the HITT robotics team on hardware, software, integration, and field testing initiatives. The position reports to the Robotics Lead in the Research and Development team and will be mentored / managed on a day-to-day basis by members of the robotics team. Responsibilities

  • Lead an independent project developing new hardware and/or software solutions to address complex challenges in construction robotics
  • Support regular field deployments, capture of datasets, and autonomy testing on active jobsites
  • Support the development of robotics simulation models and environments
  • Design and fabrication of hardware components including 3D printed parts, wiring harnesses, and electronics

Qualifications

  • Pursing a Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or graduate degree in robotics, computer science, mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on experience working with mobile robots, ideally in real-world environments outside of the lab
  • Experience with C++, Python, Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) or related programming languages
  • Familiarity with mobile robot sensing, perception, localization, navigation, and networking for ground and/or aerial robots
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software and 3D printing
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
