A Snapshot of Your Day In our HVDC Control Team, we are implementing, testing and verifying the hardware and software for innovative HVDC applications using lean and agile methods. Our diverse and multinational teams are working closely together with project management, system and equipment engineering as well as with end customers to provide customized solutions based on the latest innovations in HVDC technology. In our testing facilities we are the responsible quality gate of hardware and software for Factory Acceptance tests. On site we will commission high-voltage equipment and control and protection systems and check their functionality. How You'll Make an Impact On-time, cost-effective and quality-oriented planning and execution of tests as well as the commissioning of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems. Management of an international team of commissioning engineers. Participation in internal improvement programs (e.g. Lean, Reviews and Lessons Learned). Ensuring contractual obligations and compliance with legal regulations as well as occupational health and safety regulations. Organization of the Functional System Testing / Factory Acceptance Tests (FST/FAT) (preliminary examination HW/SW) at our test areas on site. Ensuring a trouble-free construction site process as well as monitoring, documentation and communication of the work progress involving the suppliers and internal and external partners. Planning and implementation of technical clarifications with our customers regarding tests and commissioning in coordination with the project management team. Support the project management team in risk and claim management and ensuring quality and occupational safety on the construction site including non-conformance reporting (NCR). What You Bring Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or combined equivalent of technical education and training with relevant professional experience. 10+ years of professional experience in the field of commissioning or commissioning management of large plants (e.g. HVDC plants, power plants, switchgear, power distribution systems). Knowledge in the field of Project Management. 100% availability to travel and readiness for worldwide business trips and long-term assignments on construction sites in USA and abroad as well as optional assignments on offshore platforms. Fluent English language skills ; German language skills a plus! Positive conflict management, decision-making ability, result orientation, motivation and communication skills in international/intercultural teams. A Snapshot of Your Day The Electrical Systems engineering team is responsible for the specification, selection, design review, cost calculation and quality control, for simple and combined cycle power plant equipment including, but not limited to: Power Control Centers, Static Excitation Systems, Startup Frequency Converters, Protective Relaying Systems, Low Voltage Plant Power Distribution Systems. The successful applicant for this position will work in an international and inter-disciplinary team setting and will be required to design, specify, and implement the assigned electrical equipment in a self-reliant work manner. Tasks include the collaboration with customers, vendors, various engineering disciplines, bid management and supply chain management to develop and implement technical solutions ensuring the highest customer satisfaction and successful project implementation by Siemens Energy. How You'll Make an Impact Contribute to the development of electrical concepts and system designs for reference power plants and their project specific adaption serving proposal activities and new unit project implementations. Design and specification of electrical components in scope of the team such as static excitation systems, generator protection systems, and plant internal power distribution equipment Creation, review, release and maintenance of technical design tools and engineering documentation for equipment in the scope of the team with a focus on generator auxiliary systems such as current transformers, neutral tie busbar and generator bushing enclosures as well as generator grounding transformer application. Support the development, maintenance and tracking of costs for equipment in scope of the team and cost calculation tools used by bid management for bidding of power plant projects Provide technical support to bid management during proposal activities. Provide technical support to supply chain management to facilitate supplier development and supplier/product qualification activities Contribute to cost value analyses including the development, implementation and tracking of design-to-cost measures Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of global engineering processes, tools and documentation. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or higher combined with a minimum of 5 + years experience in the technologies of electrical components used in fossil power plant and synchronous condenser applications. Experience and expertise in the design and specification of isolated phase bus duct, neutral grounding transformers and current transformers Experience in the design and specification of low voltage systems, power transformers, batteries, battery chargers, cable and cable raceway systems. Proficient in the interpretation and application of relevant internation and local standards governing the design and installation of electrical components including IEC, IEEE, VDE, EN etc. Ability to focus on tasks requiring attention to detail such as design calculations for electrical systems and able to handle multiple tasks in parallel while meeting high quality standards and set timelines. Excellent team player and communicator; fluent in English (written and verbal) Ability to travel internationally for short durations if required (up to approximately 10%). Experience in interpreting technical contract requirements, customer negotiations or the commissioning of components in the scope of the team is preferred.
