Job Title: Senior Software Engineer Salary: £30,000- £39,000 per annum dependent on experience Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire A position has become available to join a growing engineering company as a Senior Software Engineer based in Bedford. Our client is a pioneer in Autonomy and Unmanned Systems, renowned for their innovation in the delivery of technical solutions in this domain, working with Aerospace and Defence Primes, SME’s and Academia. The role of the Senior Software Engineer is to support product development and R&D activities as the company is continuously developing within core areas such as UAV autopilots, mission systems, ground control stations and all supporting systems and infrastructure. Main Responsibilities: * Primarily, this role will be to design, develop and test software systems to support both experimental activities and product development. Specifically, this will include the harmonisation of real time avionics databases used both on-board and off-board aircraft. * You will be responsible for delivery, reporting and presentation of technical work and writing and submitting any necessary documentation. * General tasks related to business delivery (e.g. contributions to experimental procedures). * *The above is not an exhaustive list of duties. You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your evolving role within the company and the overall business objectives of the company. From their headquarters in Portsmouth, they support the Royal Navy in global operations delivering end-to-end support to over 50 per cent of the Royal Navy's surface fleet. Their services include ship upgrades, repairs, dockyard facilities management and provision of combat systems training. They also develop and support the Royal Navy’s complex equipment, such as radar, torpedoes and small boats. Main Responsibilities: * Developing maintainable solutions to meet requirements. * Integrating solutions with COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) products. * Take ownership for developing, implementing and executing your delivery plan. * Be involved in or create technical proposals and documentation. * Provide mentoring to more junior developers in the team.
