We are a new space startup that is growing fast with one satellite in space and at least 6 more planned in the next two years. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will work directly with the Turion team to assist in the architecture, development, and testing of the flight software that commands and monitors our spacecraft fleet. In your role as a flight software engineer you will directly impact the architecture of the vehicle's software and computer systems as the missions increase in complexity. Day to day tasks include bus design, software architecture planning, driver development, complex mission capabilities implementation, fault detection isolation and recovery implementation, as well as coordinating with other teams. Well qualified candidates with relevant prior experience will be considered for the position of Senior Flight Software Engineer. Key Responsibilities Establish the architecture, and execute the design, development and maintenance of reliable and fault tolerant software Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team Implement software to meet requirements while managing interfaces with multiple spacecrafts subsystems and ground systems hardware Develop command and control software for spacecraft flight and payload electronics Develop and participate in test campaigns ranging from unit-level to automated testing at the subsystem and system-level Develop documentation for operation and interface with software products QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: An engineering degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent 5+ years of demonstrated applicable experience in high reliability software development Developing concurrent code with asynchronous Rust Software development expertise in embedded environments, working with: C or C++ Experience programing on embedded ARM cores supporting SoC architectures and working in a Linux or bare-metal environment Understanding of processor architecture and writing code to optimize for speed and size Experience with software development processes including: source control, bug tracking, and design documentation Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced development environment Preferred Skills and Experience: Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent and 8+ years experience Experience working within an agile framework Knowledge of Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, and PCIe interfaces Experience with software running in autonomous, fault critical systems Experience developing, deploying and maintaining software product lines Background in dynamics and control systems ITAR Requirements: This position may include access to technology and/or software source code that is subject to U.S. export controls. Job DescriptionJob Description The Flight Software Development Engineer in Test will be responsible for the design and development of Turion's Flight Software testing framework / tools, strategy, and procedures. They will design and write tests, which rigorously exercise the software system under test, helping to catch and fix bugs early and often. They will engage with flight software developers and operators to support qualifying our software for flight. This role involves collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure that flight software meets performance, reliability, and mission-specific requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain a testing framework for the automated testing of the spacecraft software in HITL and SITL environments. Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on software requirements, needs, and specifications. Define test objectives, scope, and criteria. Work closely with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that software meets quality standards and requirements. Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements. Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports. Ensure all testing activities are documented and traceable. Develop a deep understanding of the avionics and flight software architecture and how the spacecraft operates as an integrated system. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by developing and implementing new testing standards, processes, and best practices. Qualifications Prior Aerospace experience not required.
