Data Platform Engineer At this technology driven investment firm, "data is everything" isn't a talking point. It's literally the job. You will own the data layer that powers quantitative researchers, data scientists, and portfolio managers. Step into a hands on engineering seat where you build the engine room for a ship full of investment professionals who need clean, fast, reliable data to do their work. Your Key Responsibilities Design and build ingestion pipelines that pull from diverse third party data sources, both structured and unstructured. Own the plumbing: pipelines, schemas, and infrastructure that the entire research and investing operation runs on top of. Ship features that make internal teams (quantitative researchers, data scientists, product managers) faster and more productive. Rearchitect schemas collaboratively with data scientists and debug production pipelines when issues arise. Evaluate and implement new orchestration tools and modern data technologies including Trino, Apache Iceberg, and Dagster. Sit at the intersection of engineering and research, acting as both builder and thought partner to non engineering stakeholders. Work on greenfield projects that evolve the data platform without being stuck maintaining legacy systems. What You Bring to the Role Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from an accredited university. 2 to 15 years of data engineering experience with a proven track record of building and shipping end to end data systems (not just writing specs). Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with real experience standing up ingestion pipelines from multiple data sources. Solid working knowledge of relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross functionally with data scientists, researchers, and product managers. Preferred: Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, S3) and familiarity with streaming or messaging tools like Kafka or gRPC. Preferred: Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and distributed computing frameworks like Ray. Preferred: Prior exposure to financial services, quantitative research, or trading environments. Candidates from data platform teams at high growth tech companies are strongly encouraged to apply.
