The Opportunity As an Indigo Press Operator, you will prepare and produce printed orders on the Indigo digital press to support external customers, internal converting teams, and internal rewinding/inspection operations. You will play a key role in meeting production quality, color accuracy, and quantity requirements while maintaining the equipment and supporting overall efficiency in the department. This role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and adjust printing parameters to achieve exceptional results. How you will impact Smurfit WestRock Prepare and produce orders on the Indigo digital press according to job specifications and production goals. Ensure printed color matches intended samples, making necessary press adjustments or communicating required changes to Prepress. Evaluate multiple proofing options and compare them to actual Indigo printing results. Troubleshoot complex print jobs and resolve issues to ensure high quality output. Collaborate with die cutters, prepress, planners, rewinders, and folder gluer operators to maintain workflow. Follow the published production schedule and prioritize jobs accordingly. Maintain press equipment through routine cleaning and preventative maintenance. Maintain a clean, organized work area and support overall department efficiency. Complete all documentation and order related paperwork accurately. Lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 75 pounds as needed. Log in and out of shifts and record daily Indigo impression meter counts. Move stock and substrates to and from Indigo press areas. Contact HP technical assistance when appropriate to resolve equipment issues. Coat printed products to meet customer specifications when required. Work safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures. Perform additional job duties as assigned. What you need to succeed High school diploma or GED preferred. Essential Job Functions: Sets up, adjusts, maintains and operates a flexographic press. Works under minimum supervision. Conducts make ready by installing anilox rollers, plates, inks, and dies into the proper stations, making necessary adjustments for optimal print quality. Cleans, lubricates, and makes minor adjustments to maintain quality of production. Notifies supervision of needed repairs or replacement parts. Delivers finished material to proper manufacturing areas as required. Ensures that assigned equipment is properly maintained and in safe operating condition. Assists with other printing processes as needed and directed by supervision. Assists in training individuals and other team members as assigned. Understands all documents pertaining to the printing process and adheres to specification requirements. Complies with company policies, procedures, and core processes. Must have basic computer skills. Must be able to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Must have proficient skills in the use of hand tools.
