Job Title:Network EngineerDepartment:Health System Shared Services Technology Deployment Job Description Responsible for the engineering, build, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network and related monitoring systems to ensure stability, reliability, and acceptable performance. This includes the design and support of routing protocols such as BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), and OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) to ensure efficient and resilient network communication across the Medical Center's infrastructure. Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the network infrastructure, including advanced technologies such as MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) for traffic engineering and service delivery, and EVPN (Ethernet VPN) and VXLAN (Virtual Extensible LAN) for scalable and flexible data center and campus network segmentation. Plans and develops the detailed engineering, design, and implementation of the Medical Center's network environment, incorporating modern overlay and underlay architectures to support high availability and performance. Plans and performs upgrades of network systems hardware and support systems in accordance with ITIL best practices. Responsible for network systems projects that range from medium to large in scope, risk, and impact. Leads and facilitates strategic projects involved in evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures, and/or workflow needs associated with network systems for the Medical Center. Researches current and developing technologies-including dynamic routing protocols, MPLS-based services, and data center virtualization solutions-to provide technical guidance pertaining to the capabilities, limitations, and requirements of network systems. Minimum Qualifications Degree in Computer Science or related field and 4 years of network experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and practical application of routing protocols; familiarity with firewall technologies; knowledge and use of 802.11; knowledge and practical application of the OSI model networking standards; familiarity with ITIL best practice guidelines desired; proficiency in VMware vCenter, NSX and vSphere platforms; knowledge of Network Virtualization -Proficiency with Network Function Virtualization (load balancers, switches, routers, firewalls).
