Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response. Position Summary Extracts operations data for analysis, leadership support and responses to ad hoc data requests. Maintains operations tools & databases to ensure that it is kept up-to-date. Supports dashboarding and reporting by analysing data and providing actionable insights. Develops, maintains and enhances operational metric database tools for the broader analytics teams. Designs data analysis to achieve business objectives, process data, analyze data, write clear and concise data findings and tailor communications to specific audiences. Analyzes data using various statistical tools to develop ad hoc reports, statistics, trends and profiles. Manages complex data extracts and list pulls ensuring data accuracy. Manages extracting data and transferring the data from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts. Develops and maintains dashboards and reporting tools to provide leadership and stakeholders with timely, actionable insights. Creates complex automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing. Demonstrates and utilizes advanced knowledge of data processing and data analysis techniques. Develops and communicates clear, concise and actionable data analyses for clients. Provides recommendations to enhance database(s) with new data sources and improved data processes. Qualifications Minimum: BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience 4 years of related work experience Desired: 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar technical role. Advanced proficiency in Python, including experience with common data/automation libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, boto3, psycopg2, SQLAlchemy, arcpy). Advanced SQL skills, including writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.). Demonstrated experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and delivery. Experience designing and maintaining data models for Business Intelligence, analytics, and operational workflows. Strong understanding of data quality, validation, monitoring, metadata, and data governance principles. Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, Lambda, RDS, Glue), Snowflake and Palantir Foundry is a plus. Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end analytics projects from requirements gathering to delivering impactful outcomes. Experience performing root cause analysis, diagnosing data issues, and implementing optimizations. Exceptional communication skills to clearly communicate technical concepts and analytical outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. Prior experience in dynamic environments such as startups, utility operations, retail, or airports is a plus. Comfortable presenting to large groups and senior stakeholders (CIO/CDO, Heads of Data/Analytics). Demo & POC excellence Able to build and deliver compelling demonstrations that tell a story around customer data and use cases, not just features. Can structure and run POCs with clear success criteria, timelines, and executive readouts to accelerate technical win. Competitive positioning Understands the broader data & AI ecosystem and can articulate differentiation versus other data warehouses, data lake/lakehouse platforms, and analytics tools. 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role such as Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Data Engineer, Analytics Consultant, or Data Scientist with strong commercial exposure.
