WHAT YOU WILL DO Platform Engineering & Automation Design and deliver cloud-native database platforms with a focus on scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency Build automated, self-service capabilities using Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform), CI/CD, and Git-based workflows Architecture & Standards Define and implement reusable platform patterns, standards, and guardrails Act as a Solution Architect where required, translating business needs into scalable data platform designs Reliability, Security & Cost Optimization Embed SRE principles including observability, performance, and incident response Ensure secure-by-design practices across identity, access, and data protection Drive cost transparency and optimization through FinOps principles Stakeholder Enablement & Collaboration Partner with architecture, application, and data teams to deliver integrated solutions Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers Lead design and architecture reviews aligned to enterprise standards Innovation & Continuous Improvement Evaluate new technologies and lead proof-of-concepts Support emerging use cases (e.g. analytics, AI/ML, GenAI) where relevant YOU'RE GOOD AT Strong communication skills, able to translate technical concepts into business outcomes Proven ability to work across global, cross-functional teams Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset Ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment What You'll Bring Core Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 10+ years' experience in database, platform, or infrastructure engineering Strong experience designing and operating cloud-native platforms (AWS preferred) Hands-on expertise with modern database technologies, including document, search, or graph platforms (e.g. OpenSearch, Neptune, or similar); experience with NoSQL or distributed systems is also valuable Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization Experience designing for reliability, observability, and operational excellence (SRE mindset) Solid understanding of cloud security and data protection best practices Nice to Have Experience across multiple cloud providers (Azure, GCP) Exposure to analytics and data platforms (e.g. Databricks, BigQuery) Familiarity with relational databases (e.g. MSSQL, Oracle) Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) Exposure to modern data architectures supporting AI/ML or GenAI use cases (e.g. vector-based retrieval) is a strong plus Who You'll Work With Enterprise and Solution Architecture teams Data & Analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks, BigQuery) Application development teams and product owners Cloud, security, and infrastructure teams Managed service providers and technology partners Additional info For US locations only In the US, we have a compensation transparency approach. Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below. The base salary range for this role in Boston is $153,000-$186,300. This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness. In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to 20% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
