Communicate design, constraints, guarantees and other aspects of the system. Communicate and collaborate with other teams at Crowdstrike, including engineering teams who use our tools; adversary response teams; malware researchers; product and program managers; and others. Write code in a variety of languages, including internally developed, non-imperative domain-specific languages. (Much, but not all, of the work we need will be written in the in-house language. This language is highly asynchronous and used to write responses to system events such as process creation and network traffic. System programming experience on one or more of macOS, Linux, and Windows is helpful.) Write unit, functional and integration tests Diagnose and resolve issues discovered by customers or other engineering teams What You'll Need: Take responsibility for and ownership of their work. About the Role CrowdStrike is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the SGNL backend engineering team within our Continuous Identity product group. SGNL forms a core part of CrowdStrike's Continuous Identity control plane, providing real-time identity security that discovers, protects, and continuously verifies human, non-human, and AI identities across hybrid, multi-cloud, and SaaS environments. Legacy identity tools built for predictable users and workloads fall short for modern AI agents that reason and act autonomously, where implicit trust and standing access create dangerous open attack paths. By enforcing Zero Standing Privileges, SGNL replaces static, broad permissions with just-in-time (JIT) access and continuous authorization that dynamically grants, adjusts, or revokes privileges based on live business and security context. Furthermore, SGNL powers real-time Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) by translating threat signals directly into immediate enforcement actions-such as step-up authentication, session revocation, and blocking lateral movement. In this role, you will build and scale high-throughput pipelines that unify security around identity across endpoints, SaaS platforms, browsers, and cloud resources, processing millions of events per second to stop identity-based attacks. This is a player-coach role. Your primary focus is leading and growing your team, but you will also contribute code, prototype solutions, and stay embedded in the technical work when needed. You'll lead at the intersection of people leadership and technical excellence, building high-performing teams and systems that protect organizations from identity based attacks. Drive day-to-day technical execution, unblock your team, and maintain alignment with broader product goals while directly guiding hands-on engineering efforts. Drive architectural decisions for low-latency, scalable distributed systems while spending 20-30% of your time prototyping, coding, and unblocking the team. Lead architecture and design reviews to ensure robust, scalable, and maintainable systems. Establish engineering best practices (CI/CD, code reviews, testing) and manage service reliability, SLOs, and incident response. Track key engineering metrics to foster continuous improvement and team performance. Drive cross-functional planning and roadmapping in close alignment with business goals and product strategy. Partner with product management and peer engineering teams (Falcon Identity Protection, Next-Gen SIEM, Privileged Access) to align on delivery and broader ecosystem integration. Leverage your understanding of engineering best practices, including topics like appropriate testing paradigms, effective peer code reviews, logging, and resilient architecture patterns, to ensure that our code is clean and our deployments are straightforward. Be an energetic 'self-starter' with the ability to take ownership and be accountable for deliverables, both individually and when leading a team. Deliver and accept feedback with grace and kindness. Collaborate on determining root causes of production outages and adding quality improvements to prevent outages in the future. Occasionally travel for in-person meetings. As a key technical leader in our organization, you will help drive architectural decisions, technical excellence, and innovation for the Policy team. The team is responsible for the cloud-side software and user interfaces that provide configuration and settings information to the Falcon endpoint agent and other products within the Falcon platform. Nearly every module of the Falcon platform offers customer-manageable configuration options, and changes to these options are distributed to the endpoint fleet within minutes. You'll be thinking about how to build and extend high-quality systems that scale cleanly and reliably, and then realizing those ideas in code. The Policy Management team is involved across the entire product line and you'll get to work closely with other groups across the company. CrowdStrike is a computer security company, but we do not require candidates for this role to have prior security industry experience. We will mentor and train in security topics as needed. We do expect a strong interest in CrowdStrike's mission and a willingness to engage with the needs of our product teams and customers. This role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site at one of the posted locations. What You'll Do: Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for the Policy Management team, driving end-to-end technical strategy, building technology roadmaps, mentoring engineers, and ensuring successful project delivery. Build and evolve cloud-based systems to flawlessly manage and distribute configuration information to a fleet of millions of endpoints, collaborating with other cloud, front-end, and endpoint developers. Brainstorm, design, and build collaboratively across multiple teams. Build elegant and performant solutions for complex technical problems across our tech stack. Read and critique code and pull requests in the multiple programming languages in use in our environment (including Go, Python, Unix shell, Typescript, C++, among others), and provide technical guidance and feedback to team members. Focus on continual learning, raising the bar for both yourself and your teammates. Crowdstrike is a remote-friendly company, but we do get together from time to time. Expect to travel 1-3 times per year. What You'll Need: U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident and work solely from U.S. soil. A computer science background or equivalent experience (programming styles, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, etc.) 7+ years of experience building and scaling complex, low-latency cloud-based back-end systems in production. Technical leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to mentor, influence and guide engineering teams Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges. Experience with Golang, Python, Kubernetes, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, Elastic Search, and/or similar technologies. You don't need all of these, but you need some. Prior experience with cloud services, such as AWS or GCP, particularly compute and storage offerings. Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes. Experience developing and deploying into Linux containers. Both a sense of humor and a sense of humility Bonus Points: Prior experience managing configuration automation for large endpoint fleets (for example, Microsoft Configuration Manager, JAMF Pro, ChromeOS device management) Exposure to/experience with cybersecurity and intelligence. This role will require the candidate to periodically undergo and pass additional background and fingerprint check(s) consistent with government customer requirements.
