General Dynamics Mission Systems Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Job Description Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Responsibilities for this Position ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES: As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer supporting the Auxiliary and Training product line, you will be a major contributor to the technical direction and long-range plans for the Fleet Ballistic Missile Auxiliary and Training Systems portfolio. You will report to the Auxiliary and Training product line and work across programs and product teams rather than being assigned to a single system. Our portfolio develops, maintains, and enhances simulation, test, training, and support systems serving the Ohio-class fleet and future Columbia-class submarines. You will provide the analysis and systems engineering depth needed to develop and maintain product roadmaps, identify common needs and reuse opportunities across systems, assess technology and architecture alternatives, and recommend approaches that balance mission value, technical risk, affordability, schedule, supportability, and long-term product health. You will provide senior systems engineering support for emerging Auxiliary and Training demands that do not fit neatly within one program. This may include driving early concept development, mission and stakeholder analysis, architecture definition, trade studies, technical planning, rough-order-of-magnitude estimates, risk and opportunity analysis, proposal development, and transition planning. You will help product-line leadership mature ambiguous needs into clear, actionable work that can be executed by the appropriate product or program team. The position combines strategic influence with practical engineering depth. You will engage with technical details, review architectures and engineering products, challenge assumptions, resolve cross-product issues, and lead focused technical efforts when the portfolio needs experienced judgment. What sets you apart: - Strong understanding and application of systems engineering principles, concepts, theories, and technical standards. - Demonstrated ability to see across individual products, connect near-term demands to long-term direction, and turn ambiguity into an executable path. - Broad technical judgment with enough depth to evaluate complex architectures, interfaces, risks, and design decisions. - Ability to influence product-line and program decisions through credible analysis, clear communication, and productive working relationships. - Ability to balance mission, customer, engineering, business, cost, schedule, and sustainment considerations when making recommendations. - Collaborative leadership style that aligns stakeholders, develops technical leaders, and positions teams for successful execution without relying on formal authority. - Strong written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues and negotiate practical solutions. - Ability to move comfortably between long-range strategy and focused support for urgent technical or customer needs. - Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others. - Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation. Sr. Backend Engineer, AutoScaling & Balancing, NG-SIEM (Hybrid)
CrowdStrike Bellville, Texas
Job Description As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn't changed - we're here to stop breaches, and we've redefined modern security with the world's most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We're proud to work for a mission-driven company leveraging AI to transform the way we work. CrowdStrikers drive their careers through flexibility and autonomy while also being expected to contribute to a culture of responsible AI adoption, experimentation, and innovation. We use an AI-first mindset as a force multiplier to proactively and continuously accelerate execution, build expertise, uncover insights, and solve complex problems. We're always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you. About the Role: Our mission is to make all of our customers' security-relevant data continuously available for automated detection and response, threat hunting, and other Falcon use cases. To enable this, the systems behind NG-SIEM are growing to accommodate >100 PB of event and action data ingested every day, up to 10 years of retention, and dozens of millions of queries per hour across large sections of the data stored. Ideal candidate for this Senior Engineer has deep expertise in large-scale distributed/control systems (intelligent placement, auto balancing, autoscaling) and the ability to go deep into the underlying data platform (LogScale) - ingestion, storage, and query internals - to connect scaling decisions to real system behavior in a large multi-tenant environment. We run a multi-tenant platform where many customers share a common pool of infrastructure. The core challenge is a two-sided optimization: deliver the best performance for every customer while achieving the best overall resource utilization (minimal wasted capacity, maximum density). This role is hybrid, on-site at one of the posted locations: Sunnyvale, CA; Redmond, WA; New York City; or Austin, TX with a strong preference to candidates in Austin, TX. What You'll Do: Intelligent Customer Placement - Decide which part of the fleet each customer lands on, bin packing tenants efficiently while reserving enough headroom so everyone gets the capacity they're entitled to. Auto balancing - Continuously rebalance customers across shared infrastructure as load shifts, protecting each customer's performance while keeping the fleet healthy. Autoscaling - Automatically add or remove capacity as demand changes, so the fleet grows and shrinks with real usage instead of being manually provisioned. Data-Driven Decisions - Use real-time per-tenant usage (e.g., memory, storage, throughput, query cost) to drive placement and balancing. End-to-End System Depth - Go deep into the underlying data platform (how data is ingested, stored, cached, and queried) to understand why a placement or scaling decision helps or hurts, and feed that back into the models. Operational Rigor - Operate what you build, and treat customer-impacting incidents with the same rigor as feature work; reliability and static stability are forcing functions for design, not a phase bolted on after launch. Feature Delivery - Deliver key parts of our systems as an individual contributor while leading the team to solve ambiguous problems, and move the scalability of our LogScale engine to the next level. Technical Strategy & Alignment - Engage with other technical leads and principal engineers to keep our technical strategy coherent across the LogScale platform and move our product mission forward. Communication - As a remote-first company, bring excellent verbal and written communication skills when working with teams across the globe. What You'll Need: Must be a U.S. Citizen or US Permanent Resident. 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining multiple software products/systems/releases, preferably in a SaaS delivery model, across all phases of the development lifecycle, and across multiple software stacks; 4+ years of experience as an engineer in a force-multiplying position (delivery through others); Current hands-on experience as an engineer (3+ years) owning a distributed system that handled tens of billions of requests per day or more than 1 PB of data per day; History of significant and continued impact on customer experience and business results; Demonstrated track record of operational excellence when operating services that span many components across several geographical regions; Experience working with and growing strong engineers within remote teams across geographies and cultures; Ability to communicate and articulate crisply Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes. Bonus Points: Hands on development experience in Golang and Scala. Solid grounding in the technology of at least one cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP). Expertise with Kafka. Exposure to or experience with Log Management or cybersecurity products. Machine learning and data science familiarity and hands-on experience. This role will require the candidate to periodically undergo and pass additional background and fingerprint check(s) consistent with government customer requirements. Benefits of Working at CrowdStrike: Market leader in compensation and equity awards Comprehensive physical and mental wellness programs Competitive vacation and holidays for recharge Paid parental and adoption leaves Professional development opportunities for all employees regardless of level or role Employee Networks, geographic neighborhood groups, and volunteer opportunities to build connections Vibrant office culture with world class amenities Great Place to Work Certified across the globe CrowdStrike is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering a culture of belonging where everyone is valued for who they are and empowered to succeed. Sr. Software Engineer - Core Platform & Resiliency (Hybrid)
CrowdStrike New York, New York
About the Role: CrowdStrike Falcon is the industry standard in cloud native cybersecurity and threat hunting, processing trillions of events per day. As a Principal SRE, you will operate at the intersection of our Core Platform and Embedded Reliability charters: building the foundational libraries, services, and tooling that every product group depends on, while embedding directly with product engineering teams and their leadership to drive reliability outcomes at scale. While we embrace the SRE moniker, at CrowdStrike it means something far more service oriented and engineering heavy than traditional operations. This is hands on systems engineering - writing production code, re architecting critical systems, and eliminating entire classes of failure - not ticket management. It is far and away our most self driven and autonomous backend engineering role, with the freedom to move up, down, and laterally across the stack as needed. You'll join a group with bottom up visibility and ownership of a fast expanding codebase (including AI based Detection & Response) and a far reaching mandate for service resiliency. Several key feature additions and critical re architecture initiatives are underway: deploying core services to additional cloud providers, modularizing into reusable components, improving core libraries and frameworks, maturing observability tooling (tracing, profiling, alerting, SLOs), and automating away manual toil across all of the above. Recent examples of the team's work include introducing adaptive concurrency into our core Kafka library to implement flow control that protects database performance, resolving critical issues in leader election libraries, and building infrastructure as code tooling that eliminated manual deployment processes. At the Senior Engineer level, your influence is organizational. Product engineers and engineering leaders will come to you for guidance on architectural decisions because you've earned credibility through hands on work and delivered results. You will shape architectural choices that affect every feature development team and provide shared architectural components leveraged throughout the Falcon Platform - including Unified Search, Protobuf libraries, and other shared tier infrastructure. Why This Role Matters: Our customers depend on us to protect their businesses from sophisticated threats, and reliability isn't optional - it's fundamental to our mission. Your work directly impacts whether organizations around the world can defend themselves against cyberattacks. You'll work on problems that matter, at a scale few companies can match, with the autonomy to make real architectural decisions. This is a hybrid role, with employees typically working 2 to 3 days per week in the office. Offices are in Midtown Manhattan, NY; Redmond, WA; Sunnyvale, CA; and Austin, TX. What You'll Do: Partner with engineering leadership across multiple product groups to define and drive multi year reliability roadmaps. Design and implement architectural improvements to services, libraries, and platforms that impact teams across all of CrowdStrike. Develop and maintain services that meet aggressive reliability and scalability demands. Extend and build new libraries for cross cutting concerns spanning CrowdStrike's cloud platform, which comprises hundreds of libraries and services. Lead initiatives around reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency in large scale distributed systems. Establish foundational observability practices: ensure teams instrument services properly, react to signals effectively, and leverage observability to drive automation such as continuous delivery. Define and implement service level objectives and error budgets that drive real decision making and prioritization. Lead performance and cost optimization efforts: profiling, bottleneck analysis, capacity planning, and cloud efficiency improvements. Conduct resilience engineering: chaos experiments, failure injection, failure modeling, and designing for graceful degradation. Design and implement automation and infrastructure as code to improve infrastructure reliability and eliminate manual toil. Provide technical leadership during complex incidents and ensure follow through on retrospectives with concrete improvements that eliminate entire classes of failures. Identify opportunities to extract common patterns into shared libraries and tools, or partner with platform teams on improvements benefiting multiple product groups. Continuously re evaluate our products to improve architecture, knowledge models, developer and user experience, performance, and stability. Drive strategic technical decisions and influence infrastructure and operational improvements across the organization. Mentor and coach engineers, raising the technical IQ of the team and driving architectural standards across the org. Use and give back to the open source community; evangelize software engineering best practices, especially as they pertain to Go. Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams as an energetic self starter who owns and is accountable for deliverables. Sr. Backend Engineer II, AutoScaling & Balancing, NG-SIEM (Hybrid)
Ideal candidate for this Senior Engineer II has deep expertise in large-scale distributed/control systems (intelligent placement, auto balancing, autoscaling) and the ability to go deep into the underlying data platform (LogScale) - ingestion, storage, and query internals - to connect scaling decisions to real system behavior in a large multi-tenant environment. 12+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining multiple software products/systems/releases, preferably in a SaaS delivery model, across all phases of the development lifecycle, and across multiple software stacks; 4+ years of experience as an engineer in a force-multiplying position (delivery through others); Current hands-on experience as an engineer (3+ years) owning a distributed system that handled tens of billions of requests per day or more than 1 PB of data per day; History of significant and continued impact on customer experience and business results; Demonstrated track record of operational excellence when operating services that span many components across several geographical regions; Experience working with and growing strong engineers within remote teams across geographies and cultures; Ability to communicate and articulate crisply Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes Bonus Points: Hands on development experience in Golang and Scala. Full-time, on-site in Boulder, CO. What You Will Do Design and lay out multi-layer precision analog and RF circuit boards yourself, from schematic capture and simulation through PCB layout, fabrication, bring-up, and debug Own the precision analog front end: photodetector signal conditioning, low-noise transimpedance and instrumentation amplification, and lock-in detection for weak atomic signal recovery Design and validate the microwave synthesis chain that drives atomic interrogation, including PLL and VCO design, phase noise optimization, and reference distribution Design precision VCSEL current drive and thermal control electronics for the laser and physics package Architect successive generations of the control electronics, driving size, power, and noise down at each iteration Build characterization protocols, test fixtures, and automation to validate clock performance against Allan deviation, phase noise, and holdover targets Partner with firmware engineers on the hardware and software interface, and with physicists on the system noise budget Drive Design for Manufacturability and Design for Test with PCB fabricators, assembly houses, and contract manufacturers as we scale toward volume production Set hardware design standards, lead design reviews, and mentor engineers Requirements What You Bring: 10+ years of board-level analog and RF hardware design, including at least one product taken from prototype through volume production A track record of multi-layer boards you personally designed and laid out, mixing sensitive analog, RF, and digital circuits: stack-up definition, controlled impedance, grounding and return-path control, shielding, and thermal management. Be ready to walk us through one in the interview. Current, hands-on proficiency in a professional PCB design tool such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, or KiCad Deep expertise in low-noise precision analog: signal conditioning, low-noise amplifiers, ADC and DAC interfacing, and rigorous noise budgeting RF circuit design through GHz frequencies, with hands-on experience in low phase noise frequency synthesis, PLLs, and VCOs Strong SPICE simulation and circuit analysis skills, including noise, stability, and tolerance analysis Hands-on bench proficiency with oscilloscopes, spectrum and phase noise analyzers, network analyzers, source measure units, and signal generators Scripting experience for instrument control, characterization, and data analysis Version control (Git or similar) for hardware design files Strongly Preferred Chip-scale atomic clocks, rubidium or cesium oscillators, OCXOs, or other precision frequency references Optoelectronics: VCSEL or laser diode drive, photodetector readout, laser frequency locking Embedded firmware in C/C++ on ARM Cortex-M class microcontrollers FPGA development in Verilog or SystemVerilog, including real-time DSP (lock-in detection, PID, digital filtering) Hardware design under hard size, weight, and power budgets Board-level integration of custom mixed-signal silicon, including block specification or characterization Hands-on management of PCB fabricators, assembly houses, and contract manufacturers Defense, aerospace, or space-qualified hardware experience Familiarity with atomic physics or other quantum sensing modalities Experience leading or mentoring a small hardware team Eligibility Due to U.S. Department of Defense funding requirements, applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents). The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance may be required for certain projects. Benefits Base salary of $180,000 to $230,000, based on experience, skills, and demonstrated expertise Meaningful equity in a deep-tech company at the inflection point between prototype and product Comprehensive benefits package Direct ownership of a critical subsystem with measurable impact on a product that matters to U.S. national security A team that includes deep AMO physics, RF, photonics, and microfabrication expertise Boulder location with access to Colorado's strongest tech and outdoor communities
