Senior Security Engineer II
Braze Austin, Texas
This job is with Braze, an inclusive employer and a member of myGwork - the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community. Please do not contact the recruiter directly. At Braze, we have found our people. We're a genuinely approachable, exceptionally kind, and intensely passionate crew. We seek to ignite that passion by setting high standards, championing teamwork, and creating work-life harmony as we collectively navigate rapid growth on a global scale while striving for greater equity and opportunity - inside and outside our organization. To flourish here, you must be prepared to set a high bar for yourself and those around you. There is always a way to contribute: Acting with autonomy, having accountability and being open to new perspectives are essential to our continued success. Our deep curiosity to learn and our eagerness to share diverse passions with others gives us balance and injects a one-of-a-kind vibrancy into our culture. If you are driven to solve exhilarating challenges and have a bias toward action in the face of change, you will be empowered to make a real impact here, with a sharp and passionate team at your back. If Braze sounds like a place where you can thrive, we can't wait to meet you. Braze is a modern, cloud-first SaaS company running entirely on cloud-native infrastructure - large-scale, distributed systems spanning AWS, GCP, and self-managed Kubernetes, backed by self-managed data stores such as MongoDB. We're looking for a Senior Cloud Security Engineer II to join our Security Engineering function as a senior individual contributor and technical leader for cloud security. This is a step up from our Senior Cloud Security Engineer role. Where a Senior engineer executes and improves our cloud security controls, a Senior Cloud Security Engineer II sets the technical direction: you define the standards and reference patterns other engineers build on, lead cross-team security initiatives end to end, take on the ambiguous problems that don't yet have a playbook (and write the playbook), and raise the bar for the whole team through mentorship and review. You'll go especially deep across three areas - secure architecture and threat modeling, detection engineering and incident response, and Kubernetes and platform security - and you'll shape how Braze does cloud security across Engineering. This is a pure IC role; you lead through technical depth and influence rather than direct people management. WHAT YOU'LL DO Set the technical direction (leadership & standards): Define the cloud security standards, guardrails, and reference architectures that Infrastructure, SRE, and Product Engineering build on - turning point-in-time fixes into durable, org-wide patterns Set your own objectives and roadmap for high-impact cloud security work, in partnership with Security Engineering leadership, and drive it to measurable outcomes Lead cross-functional security initiatives end to end - scope, timeline, stakeholders, and delivery - guiding technical debates to a decision and owning the result Mentor and uplevel other security and platform engineers through pairing, design review, and feedback; act as a force multiplier and the go-to technical resource for cloud security Represent cloud security in architecture and design forums, translating complex attack paths and risk into clear, actionable guidance engineers will actually adopt Secure architecture & threat modeling: Own threat modeling as a discipline for new cloud technologies, services, and patterns adopted across Engineering - making it a repeatable, scalable practice rather than a one-off exercise Partner with Infrastructure, SRE, and Product Engineering to design secure-by-default cloud architectures and build practical, scalable controls across AWS, GCP, and self-managed systems Drive control-plane and IAM security strategy across AWS and GCP, including relationships with external identity providers, RBAC models, and least privilege at scale Continually assess posture, surface systemic and emerging risk, and set the priorities that reduce it Detection engineering, incident response & automation: Advance our detection strategy: design high-signal detections and SIEM rules (with our SIEM Management function) and own detection coverage for cloud threats end to end Serve as a senior incident responder and cloud-forensics lead for cloud and run-time security investigations across AWS and GCP - and codify what you learn into standard IR playbooks and preventative controls Own and optimize security tooling such as CrowdStrike (EDR/CSPM/IR), Tenable, and native cloud security services, and lead our vulnerability management workflow - scanning, triage, prioritization, and remediation - for cloud assets Kubernetes & platform security: Own the security of our self-managed Kubernetes environments - control plane, nodes, workload isolation, admission control, run-time security, and the CI/CD supply chain feeding them Set the standards for Infrastructure-as-Code and pipeline security (Terraform preferred): design and harden IaC and CI/CD automation so security is built into how we ship Establish best practices for patch management, base-image hardening, and version management across containerized and VM-based environments Lead the security of large-scale, distributed systems and self-managed data stores (e.g., MongoDB), accounting for their real-world operational and security implications WHO YOU ARE You are a senior individual contributor who leads through technical depth and influence rather than authority. You can take an ambiguous, open-ended cloud security problem, define the objective yourself, and deliver a solution that becomes the way Braze does it going forward. You translate complex cloud attack paths, IAM misconfigurations, and multi-step threat scenarios into guidance engineers adopt, and you balance strong controls with operational reality. You raise the people around you - through mentorship, review, and the standards you set - and you stay current with the cloud security landscape, tools, and threats. Above all, you can walk someone through the messy middle - what you tried, what broke, and what you'd do differently. THE FEW HARD PREREQUISITES: These are the genuinely pass/fail requirements: Several years owning cloud security in production - on-call for it, not adjacent to it Hands-on, not theoretical: AWS as primary cloud, working GCP, self-managed Kubernetes You read and write code (Python, TF) For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $149,000 and $235,000/year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $166,000 and $261,000/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, this role qualifies for a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that you will own a piece of our company. Data Platform Lead
Convene Hospitality Group Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Job Description Job Description Convene Hospitality Group (CHG) operates a global portfolio of lifestyle brands focused on creating places and experiences that bring people together. The company designs, develops, and operates hospitality-driven destinations to host gatherings of all kinds, ranging from small corporate meetings to immersive brand activations and beyond. We love bringing people together in person, and that passion for great experiences extends to our employees as well. If you're interested in creating inspiring moments of connection, consider joining our team. Data Platform Lead We're hiring a hands-on Data Platform Lead, to join Convene Hospitality Group's (CHG) Technology organization. You'll own our data platform end to end, from architecture to how we model the business, and you'll manage the analytics engineers who build on it. Data platform modernization and AI-first development are top priorities, and this role sits at the center of both, working hand in hand with the product engineers whose systems create much of our data. Today, our marts mostly mirror the systems they come from. Salesforce data looks like Salesforce, NetSuite data looks like NetSuite. You'll reshape our models around how the business runs, organized by domain, and layer governed dashboards and conversational analytics on top. In one year, a finance lead, a venue GM, and an AI agent should all be able to ask a question in plain language and get the same trusted answer. Today we run Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran. You'll help us rearchitect for where CHG is headed: building on Snowflake's native capabilities (semantic views, Cortex, and its agent tooling), rolling out ThoughtSpot, and filling gaps like observability. This is a hands-on management role, open to first-time managers. If you've led as a tech lead, mentored engineers, or directed contractors, you'll get direct coaching from a VP of Engineering who develops first-time leaders. Experienced managers who still want to build are welcome too. What You'll Do: Own the data platform end to end. Architecture, reliability, and roadmap from source to decision across Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran. Move platform configuration from the UI into Terraform, in coordination with Cloud Infrastructure, so warehouses, roles, grants and connectors are versioned, reviewed and reproducible. Rethink how we model the business. Move us from source-shaped marts to domain-oriented models built around how CHG runs. Set the modeling standards, naming conventions and review practices the team builds on. Work backward from the business question. Partner with Finance, Sales, Operations and venue leadership to turn the questions they need answered into models, metrics and definitions they trust. Partner closely with product engineering. Work with product squads on schema design, data contracts, and upstream changes, so the platform and products evolve together. Own data quality and observability. Set the testing standards, contracts, and reconciliation checks that make our numbers trustworthy, and alert an owner before a stakeholder finds a broken dashboard. Own the metrics and BI layer. Roll out our BI tool and build the semantic layer behind governed dashboards in Snowflake semantic views, with certified metrics and shared definitions, so a number means the same thing everywhere it shows up. Bring conversational analytics online, safely. Stand up natural-language querying and agents on Snowflake's native tools, with the evals and guardrails that keep agent, dashboard, and human answers in sync. Govern the data. Access control, PII handling and accessible documentation across analytics and AI. Lead and grow analytics engineering. Manage and hire our analytics engineers, and direct the contractors we work with today. Coach through code review, pairing, and clear expectations. Keep your hands on the keyboard. Write dbt models, review PRs, debug pipelines and prototype new approaches. Expect to build a lot, especially early on. What We Look For: You have 7+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering or data architecture, including building a modern data platform that people rely on in production. You use AI agents for real multi-step work: building models, writing tests, debugging pipelines and documenting what exists. You write clear specs, give agents the right context, and verify what they produce against the real system. You're deep on dbt and Snowflake. You've designed project structure, testing strategy and warehouse performance at scale, and you manage the platform as code with Terraform or similar. You're fluent in data modeling and have moved a team from source-shaped models to business-shaped, domain-oriented marts, then seen the change through to adoption. You've built data quality and observability practices: tests, contracts, freshness monitoring and alerting that people trust. You've built a semantic layer and governed metrics that people trust, and you understand what it takes to make natural-language and agent-driven analytics accurate. You've worked with managed ingestion like Fivetran and know where it fits and where it breaks. You've led beyond your own work: as a tech lead on a multi-person project, mentoring engineers, running interview loops, or directing contractors or vendors. You explain clearly to engineers and non-engineers. You can walk an analyst through a modeling decision and a CFO through a metric definition. You're high agency. You set direction without waiting for a spec, make architecture calls, and write down your reasoning. Bonus Points You've rolled out ThoughtSpot or another search-driven BI tool. You've unleashed an autonomous agent in the wild, and built the fencing, monitoring and improvement loop around it. You've modeled data from Salesforce, NetSuite or HRIS platforms. You've prepared data for AI use cases: retrieval, agents or feature pipelines. You've worked in hospitality, events, real estate or another customer-centric, multi-location business. Compensation: The above job definition information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required of employees assigned to this job. Lead Application Security Engineer -- Remote
The French Sourcer San Francisco, California
Job Description Job Description Lead Application Security Engineer - Remote (United States) Remote, United States Permanent Remote Compensation: $220,000 to $320,000 base, plus competitive equity Be the first security engineer on a platform that moves customer data for hundreds of enterprises, where tenant isolation is a problem you solve in the code and the roadmap is yours to write. What you'd actually work on Owning application security end to end as the first dedicated security hire, reporting to the VP of Engineering, while the engineering team roughly doubles in size Spending most of your week in the codebase, reading and writing production TypeScript and Go, and shipping security fixes yourself Threat modeling new products and major redesigns early, while design choices are still cheap to change, and hardening them before they reach customers Designing sub-tenant access control for multi-team and multi-brand customers who need different levels of access to configuration and data inside the same account Improving rate limiting, abuse detection and the granularity of access control on internet-facing APIs that serve customer data at high volume Extending a multi-region, multi-cloud backend into new regions so global customers can meet their data residency requirements, with security designed into each launch Building your own roadmap: looking at the architecture, finding the highest-leverage problems and going after them, with the autonomy that comes with being the first person in the role Where it gets technically interesting Multi-tenant isolation on a system that runs very large volumes of data jobs every day and ingests a high-throughput stream of events. At that scale, a single isolation gap can expose one customer's data to another, so the margin for error is very small Compute isolation frameworks that you'll build and refine, balancing how strongly customer workloads are separated against cost and performance on a platform that keeps growing fast A backend spread across AWS, Azure and GCP that often operates against customer-owned cloud accounts, which means part of the trust boundary runs through infrastructure you don't control An authorization model for sub-tenants that has to be right early, because once hundreds of enterprise customers organize their teams and brands on top of it, changing it gets very expensive High-throughput public APIs where rate limiting and abuse detection must stop bad traffic without adding latency or blocking legitimate customers Privacy controls (PII handling, data residency, GDPR and CCPA) that are core engineering work here, since the product sits directly on top of customers' personal data What we're looking for A real background as a backend software engineer: you wrote production code (APIs, distributed systems, data pipelines) inside a product codebase before or alongside your move into security. The team cares much more about what you've built than about certifications 6+ years in security engineering with deep distributed systems knowledge, enough to understand what product teams are building and influence it from a place of trust Experience as an early security hire (first 1 to 3) at a SaaS or data infrastructure company, plus 2+ years at a venture-backed or high-growth company as it went through real scale Staff or Lead level today, reached through promotions over tenures of 2 years or more Hands-on experience securing multi-tenant platforms (tenant isolation, authorization models) and systems that span several clouds or regions A degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or a similar field, and the ability to explain a design clearly and stay precise under deep technical questions Bonus: privacy-adjacent security work, having designed or secured data infrastructure as an early engineer, or experience at a security-focused company. Former managers who want to return to a fully hands-on IC role are welcome The company A late-stage B2B data and AI company, backed by top-tier investors, whose platform helps businesses turn their customer data into personalized marketing, with a growing part of that work now driven by AI agents. Revenue and headcount have been growing fast year over year, and hundreds of companies rely on the platform in production. Several hundred people, fully remote, with an engineering culture that holds a very high bar for quality and simple, scalable software. This is the company's first dedicated security role: it reports to the VP of Engineering and works across every product team. Competitive equity and benefits. Remote within the United States, with visa transfers supported (H-1B transfer, TN), but no new H-1B sponsorship.
