Job Description Job Description Join the Team That's Redefining Wireless TechnologyAt Tarana, we're more than just a fast-growing tech company-we're a team of bold innovators on a mission to revolutionize broadband. Our groundbreaking Fixed Wireless Access technology is delivering fiber-class internet speeds worldwide, bridging the digital divide in ways previously thought impossible.About the Role Tarana is scaling field deployments 5 , and we're looking for a senior engineer to own the technical execution and continuous improvement of hardware failure analysis and diagnostics. You will lead investigations from the returned unit through root cause, disposition, and corrective action, while building the automation, data, and cross-functional processes that allow HW QA to scale with the fleet. As a Staff Hardware QA & Diagnostics Engineer you will have broad technical influence and ownership across multiple components. You'll lead ambiguous investigations, propose clear next steps, and partner closely with Hardware, Firmware, Software, Manufacturing, Customer Support, and Field teams; turn ambiguous field and production failures into evidence-based conclusions; and help define validation strategy for new hardware. You'll also help mentor engineers and raise the quality and consistency of the team's diagnostic practices. What You'll Own Lead end-to-end RMA and failure-analysis investigations: review field evidence, reproduce failures, isolate root cause, determine disposition, propose clear next steps, coordinate follow-through, and drive corrective actions to closure. Own the technical quality and timeliness of hardware diagnostic results, including clear separation of hardware, firmware/software, configuration, and no-fault-found cases Define and improve diagnostic methods, test plans, acceptance criteria, lab procedures, and data-collection standards. Design and maintain production-quality Python/Bash automation and reusable tools for bench testing, log analysis, test-station workflows, and trend detection. Lead complex investigations involving RF, memory, power, serial interfaces, Linux boot, GPS, and timing subsystems. Partner with Hardware, Firmware, Software, Manufacturing, and Customer Support to resolve issues and communicate evidence-based recommendations. Identify systemic trends across returned units, manufacturing data, and field reports; quantify recurrence, recommend preventive actions, track corrective actions through verification, and monitor results to ensure issues do not resurface. Lead power-on verification, subsystem qualification, Linux boot validation, and diagnostic readiness for new hardware revisions. Lead process improvements that reduce failure-analysis cycle time and no-fault-found rate, increase automation coverage, improve final unit dispositions, and create roadmaps for diagnostic capabilities and feature support. Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical standards, documentation, and team operating practices. What you'll be doing: Receive returned field units and develop an efficient investigation plan based on the reported symptoms and available evidence. Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, serial consoles, network tools, and other lab equipment to validate hypotheses. Analyze embedded Linux logs, firmware behavior, telemetry, test output, and hardware measurements together rather than in isolation. Build focused experiments that distinguish intermittent, environmental, hardware, and software-related failure modes. Document findings so that another engineer can reproduce the reasoning, results, and recommended disposition. Represent HW QA in design reviews, failure reviews, bring-up planning, and cross-functional issue reviews. Evaluate and apply AI-assisted diagnostic tools where they improve investigation speed, consistency, or fleet-scale pattern recognition. What You'll Need: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. 9+ years of hands-on experience in hardware QA, failure analysis, embedded systems, electronics troubleshooting, or a comparable role; equivalent depth of experience is also considered. Demonstrated ownership of complex hardware investigations from symptom through root cause and corrective action, including proposing next steps, tracking action items, and verifying that fixes remain effective over time. Strong practical proficiency with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and serial/console tools. Ability to isolate hardware faults from firmware, software, configuration, and test-environment issues. Strong Python and/or Bash skills for automation, data extraction, log parsing, and diagnostic tooling. Experience working in embedded Linux environments and interpreting system, kernel, boot, and application logs. Experience developing test plans, defining acceptance criteria, improving QA or failure-analysis processes, and creating practical roadmaps for new diagnostic features and capabilities. Excellent technical writing, organization, and communication skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional decisions with evidence. Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations, prioritize competing investigations, and drive issues to closure. Preferred areas of expertise: Experience with RF or wireless systems, GPS/GNSS, timing, high-speed digital interfaces, memory, or power systems. Experience with new-board bring-up, subsystem qualification, automated test stations, or production test integration. Familiarity with hardware/software traceability, manufacturing data, RMA systems, and fleet-level quality metrics. Experience mentoring engineers or leading cross-functional technical projects without direct authority. Familiarity with automated test frameworks, CI pipelines, data visualization, or statistical failure analysis. How Success Is Measured Staff-level ownership of ambiguous, multi-component investigations from problem definition through verified corrective-action closure. Predictable delivery of 2-6 month diagnostic and process-improvement work, with risks, dependencies, deadlines, and documentation actively managed. Reduced failure-analysis cycle time, no-fault-found rate, recurring failures, and escapes, using baseline-to-target metrics. Production-quality automation and diagnostic methods adopted across the team, with increased coverage, reuse, and maintainability. Cross-functional HW/FW/SW/Manufacturing alignment on priorities, decisions, and corrective actions, with verified follow-through and monitoring. Technical leadership and mentoring that raise team-wide diagnostic quality, consistency, and ability to execute without a single-person bottleneck. Why This Role Own work that directly affects field quality, customer experience, and product reliability at scale Work across the full lifecycle-from returned units and manufacturing data to new-hardware bring-up and validation. Job Description Job Description Why Flux Flux is taking the hard out of hardware. To do this, we're building the world's first AI hardware engineer. Founded in 2019, our platform enables anyone to go from idea to manufacturable board using nothing more than a natural language prompt. This democratizes a process that has historically required years of specialized expertise. We're going after a $15B+ electronic design automation market, backed by 8VC, Bain Capital Ventures, Liquid 2 Ventures, Outsiders Fund, Figma board member John Lilly, and GitHub founder Tom Preston-Werner. In February 2026, we closed a total of $37M in funding to accelerate that mission. What happens when we unlock the ability for anyone to make hardware? We fundamentally reshape the world. That's our mission, and we're just getting started. The Role We're looking for an experienced electrical engineering leader who will own the hardware design practices and guiding principles of our platform. You'll steer the evolution of our ECAD tool's core capabilities as well as the correctness of our AI Hardware Engineer's system knowledge and design approach. You'll actively partner with product leadership to shape and prioritize AI capability development, evaluation frameworks, and in developing scaled approaches to guide our community to successful PCB projects. In this role, you'll grow our existing Hardware Design function and team. This is a high impact, multidisciplinary role for someone who has experience building complex electronics that shipped at scale (e.g., smartphones, wearables, high performance compute, networking, robotics) and loves translating real world engineering constraints into powerful tools and AI behaviors. What you'll do Drive ECAD feature design & specs - Craft product requirements for core ECAD behaviors across placement/routing, constraints management, stackup, impedance control, DRC/DFM, manufacturing outputs, and prototyping workflows. Co-author specs, validate by running dogfooding initiatives, beta programs, and scaled user feedback. Be the design partner to AI/ML - Teach the world's first AI hardware engineer how to design successful products. Define best practices, guardrails, and evaluation harnesses; curate datasets; review AI generated designs; create the AI expertise that will help more people build successful hardware on their first production run, without releasing the magic smoke. Build out the Hardware Design function - Start as a hands on manager with two existing reports. Over time, refine the team's core responsibilities, and build a larger team that produces reference designs, demos, product specs, training, and field feedback loops. Develop real hardware - Lead quick turn-around prototypes (from schematic to bring up) that exercise product/AI capabilities. Instrument designs for SI/PI and power/thermal validation; close the loop with data. Amplify user insight - Adopt ownership and improve upon current user experience signals, feedback loops, and channeling user input into our iterative product design. Strategically invest in deeper customer relationships. Champion the user's voice in cross functional forums. Partner closely with our software engineering department in ensuring AI evaluations are reflective of real-world user requirements. Product - Be the "voice of the customer" within the organization, addressing vision, strategy, research & discovery, prioritization and cross-functional leadership. What you'll bring Deep EE breadth + depth with real products in the field. Comfortable spanning: RF & wireless: from sub GHz to mmWave; matching, filtering, antenna/feed layout. EMI/EMC & ESD: design for compliance, grounding/return paths, shielding, filtering. Power electronics: DC DC (buck/boost), PMICs, PoE, motor/actuator control, power sequencing, efficiency/thermal trade offs. Analog & mixed signal: sensor interfaces, data converters, low noise design. High speed digital: DDRx, PCIe/SerDes, USB C/USB4, MIPI, Ethernet (1G-25G+); timing, skew, and equalization considerations. SI/PI: signal/power integrity analysis, decoupling strategies, return path control. PCB/stackup expertise: material selection and stackup definition , controlled impedance , differential pair tuning & length matching , via strategies (blind/buried, microvia, backdrill), HDI (high density interconnect) , panelization, and build rules with fabs/EMS. DFM/DFT & manufacturing : hands on bring up and debug, test coverage, fixture definition; tight collaboration with CMs/ODMs. Tooling fluency: meaningful time in multiple ECADs (e.g., Altium, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Mentor Xpedition, KiCad, Zuken) and experience with simulation tools (SPICE, SI/PI such as ADS/HyperLynx/SIwave ; 3D EM such as HFSS), plus lab instrumentation (oscilloscope, VNA, logic analyzer, power analyzer). Product sense & communication: ability to turn messy user needs into simple workflows; excellent written specs, diagrams, and presentations; confident with senior leadership and deep dive technical reviews. Leadership at multiple altitudes: thrive as both a hands on engineer and a manager; co-develop core ECAD product strategy. Hire, mentor, and scale processes while staying close to the work.
