As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon's unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers' businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon's real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use. Amazon WorkSpaces has protected and empowered enterprise work for over a decade, and we are now reimagining what a workspace is. We are building Agentic WorkSpaces: a platform where the workspace itself is an active partner in how you work, not just infrastructure that delivers applications. Today more than a million users rely on WorkSpaces daily; tomorrow those workspaces will host AI agents alongside humans, agents that code, troubleshoot, analyze, and act on behalf of their users, governed by the same identity and security policies as the people they serve. We compete with Microsoft, Citrix, and Omnissa, and we intend to leapfrog them by building the workspace that was designed for the agentic era, not retrofitted for it. Agentic Workspaces' On-Instance Software (OIS) is the layer that makes this possible from the inside of every WorkSpace: the operating system, provisioning logic, on-instance agents, telemetry, and update mechanisms across Windows and Linux. Our vision is for that software to be invisible, operating systems that launch within weeks of upstream general availability, agents that update themselves safely without disrupting access, provisioning that is self-diagnosable, and fleet management that works through the same AWS tools customers already use, delivered from commercial regions to classified partitions with automation as the default so quality and breadth improve release over release. Knowledge of Linux operating systems, Linux package management, and native Linux desktop application development is desired. You want to solve challenging problems in operating systems, identity, AI, and desktop platform engineering at a scale that impacts more than a million users daily. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate the services and agents that provision, secure, and maintain WorkSpaces for humans and, increasingly, for the AI agents that work beside them, across every supported OS and identity provider. As a developer on our team, you'll own code end-to-end from design to development, and work closely with senior technical leaders within the team and across AWS. You will own end-to-end delivery of features and systems within OIS - from design through deployment and operations - holding a high bar for availability, latency, and security. You are customer-obsessed, technically deep, and energized by solving hard problems. You think big about what the workspace of the future looks like - a unified agent shipping to two platforms from one code base, an identity model that treats humans and agents as first-class citizens, and autonomous troubleshooting that resolves issues before users notice - and then you build the systems to get there. Key job responsibilities Design and deliver features and systems within On-Instance Software, contributing to the architecture strategy for how the on-instance layer evolves to host and govern AI agents alongside human users. Drive the agent unification work that lets Windows and Linux features ship from a single codebase, making feature parity the default rather than a follow-up. Partner with EC2, identity providers, self-service troubleshooting, and platform teams - earning trust by driving technical discussions that result in impactful architectural decisions. Design and implement on-instance identity, security, and governance for a world where humans and agents share the same desktop: identity integration across the major join models, a trust and authorization posture that treats agents as first-class principals, and compliance-ready images built in rather than bolted on. Own the operation of low-latency, high-availability provisioning and agent services used by more than one million WorkSpaces users globally. Ensure your services meet stringent SLAs across multiple production regions, AWS partitions, and OS variants, with self-service diagnostics and autonomous issue resolution before customers are impacted. Drive engineering excellence through instrumentation, automated testing, and pipeline-based deployment - eliminating manual toil and shipping features simultaneously across Windows and Linux. Think big about the agentic era and experiment boldly with AI-powered capabilities such as conversational setup, natural-language troubleshooting, and AI-assisted fleet management. Raise the bar on customer self-service so operating-system breadth, safe automatic updates, and reliable provisioning are delivered without imposing an operational tax on the customer or the agent workflows running on the desktop. AWS runs one of the largest networks in the world, and MONA (Management, Out-of-Band Networks, and Automation) alone owns the full lifecycle of over one million physical devices. We are in the critical path for every new data center powering the AI revolution. Everything we run, we build in-house: controllers, software-defined networking (SDN), and planning software. For example, we own a controller for agentic network auto-remediation, and the planning software that plans every new data center down to capacity and ports. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to own the design and delivery of core components of these systems end-to-end - from design through production - and to keep growing your technical scope. You do not need a networking background up front; strong engineers learn our domain here, on a team that invests in your growth and gives you real ownership at a scale almost nowhere else can offer. Key job responsibilities - Own the design, implementation, and operation of well-scoped components and features of our in-house network software - controllers, SDN, planning software, and out-of-band systems - end-to-end. - Turn ambiguous requirements into high-quality, well-tested, scalable code; contribute to design docs and design reviews. - Operate your services in production and uphold high operational standards, improving monitoring and alarming as you go. - Drive correctness and safety for automation that acts on production networks: idempotency, guardrails, and observability that proves work actually happened. - Collaborate with your team and partner teams to evolve the product and continuously improve code, processes, and quality. - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team through thoughtful code reviews. - Participate in the on-call rotation for the services you own. A day in the life You own a component end-to-end: you write the design, build it, ship it, and operate it. One morning you are extending our controller for agentic network auto-remediation; the next you are improving how the planning software allocates ports and capacity for a new data center build. You will make a teammate's change better in review, tighten operational excellence on your service, and help a junior engineer level up - all on systems that run at a scale almost nowhere else can offer, with real ownership and teammates sharp enough to make you better. About the team MONA (Management, Out-of-Band Networks, and Automation) is part of AWS Networking. Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc.

About the team ABOUT AWS: Diverse Experiences Amazon values diverse experiences. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying. We're rebuilding the AWS product catalog for an AI-native world, and this role owns both how it's defined and how it grows. You'll set the standards every AWS product follows and define the new features, packages, and add-ons that service teams bring to customers, building the machine-readable foundation that billing, cost management, and AI agents all depend on. The AWS Billing organization serves over 200 AWS services across 30+ regions, and every one needs a product definition that is structurally correct, consistently described, and rich enough for both humans and AI to reason about. This is the foundation for commercial decisions made by external customers and internal teams. As Senior Product Manager - Technical External Services, you'll own the AWS product model end to end: the schema, governance rules, and quality standards every product conforms to, and the new product structures service teams build on top of them. You'll define what attributes a product carries from creation, how to create standard models for different types of services (from compute and storage to AI inference and developer tools), how products relate to and compose with one another in packages and shared commercial experiences, and how the catalog enables AI agents to discover, compare, and act on products programmatically. You'll also extend the catalog with new product features, packages, and add-ons that service teams can adopt through configuration rather than custom engineering. Your work directly determines how AWS services launch and grow their products. In this role, you'll architect the data model that underlies AWS commerce, define the governance framework that enforces it across hundreds of service teams, and establish the lifecycle and relationship standards that let products evolve and work consistently across commercial channels. You'll conduct direct research with service teams and internal consumers of product data to understand where definitions break down, translating those insights into schema improvements and governance rules. You'll work at the intersection of data architecture, billing infrastructure, and AI-native product design, defining how AWS products present themselves to the next generation of consumers. You'll collaborate with engineering teams across AWS's billing, metering, and cost management organizations. This role requires deep technical fluency in data modeling, schema design, and systems thinking, combined with the product instinct to know which standards matter and which create bureaucracy. If you're excited about defining the foundational data layer that makes AWS's commerce systems work this role offers the chance to shape how every AWS product is defined, described, and used across AWS commerce. Key job responsibilities - Define product framework: schema, required attributes, quality rules, and lifecycle governance for every AWS product - Define standard product models and product-relationship patterns for different service categories - Extend the catalog with new product features, packages, and add-ons that service teams can adopt through configuration - Architect agent-readable product metadata standards for AI consumption across internal and external experiences - Drive adoption of product standards across new offerings and established catalog systems - Conduct direct research with service teams and product data consumers to identify where definitions break down and drive improvements - Partner with engineering teams across AWS's billing, metering, and cost management organizations BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of working as a Technical Product Manager experience - Experience working with customers, technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs - Experience in taking a product from conception & definition phase through engineering design and taking it to market - Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, finance, or economics PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience working within teams delivering software products and features using agile methodologies - 3+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using data modeling experience - Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale - Experience with billing, commerce, or catalog systems - Experience building or designing agentic products and interfaces Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. About the team ABOUT AWS: Diverse Experiences Amazon values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying.
